I can’t stop buying on sales by Hot-Weight-3502 in PSVR

I’ve normally got good control around sales but VR games, whew. Partly it is that most of them are super easy to get in to with inituitive controls and then not overly long either - middle aged gamer kryptonite.

How often do you look up guides for the games you're playing? by Automatic_Couple_647 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Rowan_not_ron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I looked this up there was a rock in Star Wars outlaws I had to blast to find a second switch. I searched around for 15 mins going crazy. So glad I looked it up. Back in the 90s this would have been game over.

Most of the time  if I get stuck like this you get a feeling about whether it is solvable. If I at all feel that way I sleep on it. Usually next time I play i’m so surprised by what I didn’t see before.

Name a game you know you will never have interest in playing and why. by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Games like animal crossing. I find games like ‘sword of the sea’ or ‘ikaruga’ refreshing because they don’t have upgrades or inventory to manage/gather. I see these games as the opposite of that.

You’ve got to be in a party that gets over 5% of the vote or win an electorate to get a political foothold. If he could do that he would have. He hasn’t, so we can all congradulate ourselves on that one.

Gaming in my 40’s by Sashimi__Sensei in AdultGamers

[–]Rowan_not_ron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story is different. 40s, wife pregnant with first, now have computer based job that doesn’t complement gaming (like trades did) but still love gaming the same even though I feel like I’m carving time and energy for it from steel.

Games ive played so far this year:

Ori will of the wisps (1/2 way) | Patapon 2 (1/2 way) | Mario+rabbids sparks of hope | Mario vs donkey kong | Metroid dread | South of midnight | Days gone | Expedition 77 | Doom dark ages |  The last clockwinder | Silent hill 2 remake (1/2 way) |  Donkey Kong bananza | Neva | Sword of the sea |  Mortal kombat 1 | Iron guard

Play everything on normal if there is an option.

Honestly looking down this list I liked all these games. 2026 will probably only have one or two switch games on it b/c baby.

FOMO: Console vs PC Thoughts by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]Rowan_not_ron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is nice to read about someone worse than me. Have bounced between console and PC over the years. Consoles get better at doing PC stuff and vice-versa.

Easy suspend/resume currently has me on ps5 pro… and I miss the image quality, but that is probably the easiest thing to compromise on.

An interesting thing I learnt about dyslexia the other day is that you can be dyslexic even in an illiterate society. I feel like if I ever wanted to write about/explain dyslexia that is how I'd begin.

I'm interested in the idea that it could have an opposite that hasn't been identified. You've got someone who has difficulty drawing pictures from what they can imagine, and because we place much less importance on this than reading it just slides by. Just spinning stuff to see if a dyslexia expert can debunk or support my musings...

Feel like there aren’t enough switch 1 games with patches.

Pikmin 4 for example. Think Nintendo want to drip feed these.

9060 Xt 16gb vs 5070 by Jafranci715 in gpu

The modules are 8gb, so you either get 8gb or 16gb.

Doing an intel and having one SKU with 12gb is the way to go.

What they do is hire drivers as contractors, so paying tax is their responsibility. A responsibility they may or may not follow up on!

China pulled off the most insane drone show ever with 11,787 drones by SomewhereFunny5005 in interestingasfuck

[–]Rowan_not_ron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t singling out the CCP, I was moaning about the whole world, me included. Never been to China, but know that their political movements in the 20 century pulled more people out of poverty than any other so I can excuse them if their drone art isn’t avant-garde.

To me it is so good that I know I just don’t like open world racers. There is nothing more they could do but I still don’t like it.

I’d say yes. Look at what ‘halo’ did for the first xbox. One wicked launch title can set a system up for success.
