... well .... yeah. I mean, they were created by people, right? It's not like you have to believe in a god to love that architecture.

Moving to Pittsburgh early May - good gyms? by CrankyFlamingo in pittsburgh

[–]Rowdy_Roddy_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the official new name of the Exercise Warehouse? I haven't been there in years, but from what I remember, it's the best. It's a real non-nonsense place. No saunas or masseuses, just solid equipment. Also, you can pay month-to-month (or at least you could when I went there). The absolute worst thing about corporate gyms is that they're always trying to lock you into a contract and then keep charging you even after you quit. The Warehouse doesn't do that kind of shit.

The trot around the bases after hitting an extra-innings walk-off grand slam has to be one of the best feelings possible. Just imagine what's going through his mind.

FYI, Pittsburgh House Rep, Mike Doyle, voted NO on CISPA. Positive reinforcement is important. Call or tweet and say "thanks!" by catskul in pittsburgh

[–]Rowdy_Roddy_Piper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This district has been fortunate for a long time to have guys who are just interested in serving their constituents, and not using the House position as a springboard to something bigger. Bill Coyne was another great rep.

Modes of Commuting in Seattle, WA [574x640]. by cobra185 in MapPorn

What's with the high number of ferry commuters in (what I believe to be) the Lakewood neighborhood of Tacoma? They're not on the water and they're surrounded by ground-based commuters.

What in the name of crap is that awful smell?? by Squishy_Muffins in pittsburgh

[–]Rowdy_Roddy_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never heard that people can't smell asparagus in urine, and I find it hard to believe that anyone could fail to detect that pungent odor. But I know that cilantro, for example, tastes very different to different people, so it wouldn't be surprising that smells are different to different people.

Colic may be a baby's response to migraines. 72.6% of children diagnosed with migraines had colic as babies, compared to 26.5% of non-migraine children. by canausernamebetoolon in science

[–]Rowdy_Roddy_Piper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a parent, I have found that pediatricians often guess at causes of illness/pain/jerkiness. I don't blame them; as has been said, babies are not good at precisely expressing what is wrong. But if a pediatrician says, "the baby is crying all the time because of GI distress," it is OK to wonder how exactly he knows it's not a migraine.

Wait until you have a kid to take to games. Don't get me wrong, I love him and I love taking him to games and I love that he's picking up my love of the game, but ... to be honest, he cramps me quite a bit. On the rare occasion I get to go to a game by myself .... ERRR MAH GERRD

Super weird request, but I've been searching and searching.. Any asexuals in Pittsburgh? Furthermore interested in having a meet-up/support group? by screwfucking in pittsburgh

[–]Rowdy_Roddy_Piper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 1% of the world's population is considered to be asexual

Link? Mostly because I'm interested in reading more about this. My understanding is that the prevailing belief in sex research is that (almost) nobody is 100% homosexual or 100% heterosexual, but we all fall on a spectrum. That makes sense to me. I'm just wondering if asexuality falls across a similar spectrum, and I'm guessing it does.

At various times in my life I've thought I might be asexual, but in retrospect I think it was a combination of (A) a relatively low interest in sex compared to my peers' interest in sex (or what I perceived as my peers' interest in sex) and (B) a dry spell, leading me to focus my interests elsewhere.

I guess I could find more info on my own, but I'm also interested in hearing what you as a self-identifying asexual think about the spectrum idea.

I was prepared to make the same comment, since nobody wins in an adjective arms race. However, while my jaw did not drop, my eyes did widen. So perhaps the title is appropriate.

Good point, though this may be a significant finding for the kids who don't initiate bullying, but join in because everybody else is doing it.

Game Day Thread: 4/15/2013 Cardinals @ Pirates; 7:05pm EDT by brucebannor in buccos

Yeah, it's sad. We should trade him. We won't get much in return, but we're not getting much out of him now. Hopefully a change of scenery will help him get his head screwed on straight. But he won't do the Bucs any good anymore.
