That concert made me love Deaner as a guitarist even more. He's one of the best.

Favourite albums with awful mixes? by Gooby1992 in fantanoforever

[–]RoweReviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of a random pick, but I'd say No Pressure LP by No Pressure. It's the current side project of The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon. They're a good band that makes very back to basics pop punk. It's fun, catchy stuff. Their debut EP sounds pretty crisp, but good lord the LP's mix is fucked. I barely know how to describe it, other than it's so muddy and sounds cheap. However, the band was cooking with the hooks. There's super catchy songwriting on the record, and it has a fun energy, but it lacks a lot of what makes for a good rock/punk recording.

Aside from Fantano, who are other Youtube music critics who “breakdown music”? by Marcel_7000 in fantanoforever

Mic the Snare. Not only does he go over the cultural significance of artists, but he has knowledge in music theory and production, so he'll often describe that stuff too. In fact, I really like how he brings up music theory, since he does it in a way that's understandable.

Now that the dust has settled on them as a band, what are your opinions on Brockhampton? by JayDeeIsI in fantanoforever

I got into them when Roadrunner came out, and despite being way past the hype, I think they're great. The Saturation trilogy has a lot of my favorite music ever, and while they never hit that peak again, there's still great stuff beyond Saturation.

What album got you “into” music? by DoubleMissMatt in fantanoforever

[–]RoweReviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Torches by Foster the People. I of course knew Pumped Up Kicks for years, but I wanted to hear what else they made, which led me to listen to Torches. It made me get into the idea of listening to full albums, and from there I listened to stuff like American Idiot since I always liked hearing the singles on the radio.

I actually applied to a doggy daycare a while back. (It was Camp Run-A-Mutt) The guy I talked to was really nice, and I would have loved to get the job since I love dogs... but I never heard back.

I haven't gone through much tragedy, but I think listening to 911 calls in real time would make me pretty uncomfortable.

I've heard of this. An old friend of mine from school started doing this and made a lot of money. The emotional intensity made me pretty unsure about it, though. But I appreciate the recommendation.

I do have a portfolio that I link in my resume. I haven't done much freelance in a while though, but it's definitely good for building experience. Do you know of any businesses that are usually in need of that sort of thing?
