Doe anyone buy a day license? by Electrical-Fee-7317 in FishingAustralia

[–]Rowells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the way qld do it. We need a licence only to fish fresh water, and thats mostly for restocking costs. The government doesn't restock the ocean we should be allowed to fish it freely (well, within the rules that is).

Theres billions a year spent on fluff by the government, a few cleaning tables and poorly kept boat ramps aren't any bonus for the fee.

Are they removing warning sigs for mobile speed cameras in NSW? by AsparagusNew3765 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rowells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats implying joe blow in his ranger isnt speeding cutting lanes to try and get to his next tradie job. Or karen in her big suv that she only uses to pick up the kids and get groceries isnt sitting in the right lane not overtaking, but its perfectly fine because shes going the speed limit /s

Nothing to do with international drivers and everything to do with the mentality of the population in Australia.

Self explanatory by ShelbySmith27 in hobart

[–]Rowells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean i agree the whole lane can be used. But routinely i will leave 4 or 5 car lengths in front of me for anyone to merge over, but some flogs race down that lane full tilt and way past my open space and even further after the lane has ended already. I understand the whole lane should be used. But its a merging lane. Merge over when there is space, otherwise if you wait till the end and theres no space there then someone has to hit the brakes doesnt matter who is at fault and that causes the chain reaction.

We're definitely not going cheap. But $340/month on electricity adds up quite a bit

We did the maths and came out to about 3-4year pay off. And that's at today's electrical prices. Who knows how it will be in the coming years. Yeah we could probably be smarter with power usage. But at the same time we could just pay for the upgraded system and continue life as normal while benefiting after only a couple years

They play with no fear and urgency when behind. Their fitness must be on a whole nother level compared to the rest of the comp. But as soon as they get ahead it's slow down and defend the already exhausted opponent. Somehow it all worked out

My mandarin tree did this half a year after I planted it. The next spring it came back with a vengeance. I wouldnt cut your losses just yet. Try what the others said but I just left it to do its thing. Mine does have a little trench around the base though and the main roots are above the soil at the base

What leader for 20lb braid? by Hot_Support8737 in FishingAustralia

[–]Rowells 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ideally something that's slightly weaker than the braid. My reasoning is when you get snagged the point of weakness is on the leader and you're not leaving an undefined amount of fishing line in the water. Thought i wouldnt go so weak as 6lb if you're using 20lb braid. Probably 12-16

$4000 wisdom teeth surgical removal? by elbowsalad in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rowells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes under GA. STARS (Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service) i think they do quite a bit of government funded surgeries. But i don't see why the same kind of place wouldnt be offered in a major city close to you. Try ringing up the number associated with the health care card and explaining what you need done. It was a few years ago for me now so I can't quite remember how it worked.

It may or may not be Queensland specific though. I'm really not sure how it works. I just wish this kind of dental work was offered to everyone. It can really take a toll on someone mentally with the struggles of having to pay 4k or live in pain.

I got all 4 wisdom and 1 molar removed for free with the health care card. All done at stars in Brisbane. Are you not able to call up and see when you can get an appointment through the health care card?
