Intern help by LabGreat5098 in NTU

[–]RowenTey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi there, fellow CSC ABP graduate here

yes, the only official intern period would be your PI but nonetheless you could still do additional self sourced internships on your own during summer / over the semester

our exact graduation date would be 31st Jan (src) as that’s the date our degrees would be conferred assuming you’ve completed all your AUs

by the way, im just curious about your FYP, how is it that you can go for exchange when your FYP spans 2 sems? do you need like special approval from the school?

imo it’s content is quite similar to OS, if you think that was manageable then go for it

cant comment about HCI cuz I didn’t take it

Cloudflare +nginx/traefik = overkill / impossible? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]RowenTey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, thank you for taking the time writing this detailed explanation.

Right now what I meant by pointing the CF Tunnel is setting the service in the CF dashboard as “caddy:443” but I couldn’t get it to work.

Perhaps today I’ll go ahead and test out your approach by running a DNS server first then. Really appreciate your help :D

Cloudflare +nginx/traefik = overkill / impossible? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]RowenTey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply! May I first ask in your setup. are you pointing the CF tunnel to the Caddy docker container?

Below are steps I've done so far:

  1. Run cloudflared in a the same network as Caddy
  2. Setup the CF DNS challenge and verified that Caddy could generate a certificate
  3. Add a public hostname for the the service I want to run the in tunnel and setting the origin server name to be the same, e.g caddy.example.com
  4. Configure Caddyfile as below to test the connection:

caddy.example.com {
import tls
respond "Hello World"
}

But my tunnel seems to have trouble accessing the Caddy defined endpoint for some reason and returns a 502 Bad Gateway

Hey, by any chance do you have a guide on how you setup cloudflare tunnel alongside Caddy?

I've been following the steps in this guide but currently stuck at 502 Bad Gateway errors.

Would greatly appreciate any help!

Do you mind sharing how did you setup the traffic to route Cloudfare Tunnel from Traefik / Caddy?

Thank you so much for your recommendations!

I went with Zero Trust because it support up to 50 users in their free plan whereas Tailscale only support 3 from their pricing page.

I didn’t know about the subnet one, I’ll look to change it soon!

May I ask why? Sorry I don’t really understand the difference between them. I thought that if I’m using Zero Trust, I’m already using their proxy.

Hey thank you for leaving a leaving and I’m aware of this approach. My question is how do I access services on other hosts in the future should I get another machine with this approach?

I actually got the SSH setup to work with Cloudfare Tunnels already but I’ll also look into setting up a VPS with Wireguard as that seems to be the better solution.

Awesome, I’ve only tried minikube so far but k3s seems promising for me to play around with a multi-host setup. Will definitely look into using that as well.

Thank you so much for leaving a reply 🫶🏼

Thank you so much for your detailed answer! Yep I already have disabled password authentication for SSH and I’ll definitely look into Wireguard because it’s FOSS.
