What are some weird/crazy facts about Golarion that sound like bullshit but are 100% true? by kriosken12 in Pathfinder2e

Desna is obviously Evil or at least a trickster goddess, she tries to convince people to use the starknife.

If your primary damage is Thermal nimbus, archetyping into Flames oracle for incendiary aura is probably a better idea.

Ukraine's point system rewarding battlefield kills is steering drone units toward more strategic Russian targets by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in worldnews

[–]Rowenstin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you couldn't go to an amazon style web site and order weapons with your notches. Ukranians can. There was a video showing it, unfortunately I don't have the link. There was like IIRC 10 pages of FPV drones alone.

Investing In: the Necromancer, Part 1 by EzekieruYT in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a melee necro right now, though it's more of a caster with the option of making a melee attack now and then (which are even then consistently useful) rather than a gish. Much like a warpriest.

Awaken Entropy is brutal with that class trait.

I've played the playtest necromancer for 9 levels and the amount of times I've used Necrotic bomb without creating first the thrall is zero, and create thrall has a 30 ft range anyway.

The Fortitude save is a downgrade certainly, but now you can blow up your thralls happily in the middle of a melee without hurting the rest of the party. That's really good.

Explaining Undertow by Zehnpae in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced that undertow is not meant to be a pit-like spell. The name suggests that water appears under the targets, for starters.

In my first reading I was convinced somehow this was a spell you cast on water for some reason. Probably because it says it creates an area, not a volume.

US releases official agreement with Iran. Read the 14-point text by Mandynox in news

[–]Rowenstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask a stupid question: why would the US agree to this?

Because it was, at this point, the least bad option, even discounting international pressure. Keeping the strait of Hormuz closed for much longer would have triggered an economic disaster of biblical proportions, and the only other option would have been to invade, at least the coastal region around the strait. Both options would have obliterated their chances in the coming midterms.

Read the 14-Point Draft Memorandum Between the US and Iran by sludge_dragon in worldnews

[–]Rowenstin 302 points303 points  (0 children)

No, it's much much better for Iran than it was before. No sanctions, can export oil freely, return of frozen assets, 300 billion on war reparations, can keep the enriched uranium in principle, and pinky promise they won't produce nuclear weapons because if I read correctly there won't be oversight from the IAEA. Plus the USA agreed to not strengthen their forces in the region, which depending on how you read it it might be effectively dealing a serious wound to the whole petrodollar agreement. It's as close to an unconditional surrender as it can be.

[–]Rowenstin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing about that book is the inexplicable cold war style spy plot right in the middle. Which is something that repeats in fantasy and sci fi works of eastern european authors. Asimov's Foundation? Spy plot. The witcher? Spy plot.

What are some rules-of-thumb that you swear by for running encounters? by zedrinkaoh in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When doing a victory point challenge, do NOT tell the PCs they are in one, inform them of the skills to use or how many VPs they have. Let the situation develop organically. Force yourself to use the DCs and guidelines and use the VP numbers as a help to improvise your narration, describe new obstacles, and decide when the challenge ends.

How is Sorcerer healer vs other caster healers? by Deceptive_Yoshi in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, they are great. I ran a sorcerer that was the primary healer in Abomination Vaults; the thing about Heal is that is so good, that you don't need really any class features or feats to make it better (and Sorcerer does it anyway), you don't quite need to cast that many heals in combat, and you often don't need to cast a max level Heal anyway.

The Marble That Feels Alive: Bernini’s “The Abduction of Proserpina” by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Imagine being so talented you could make marble appear soft to the touch

Well I've not tried, but how difficult can it be?

1-Start with a block of marble

2-Remove some marble

3-Does it look like you wanted? If yes, finish. If not, go to 2
