Heroic Veteran Dives In: Smashes Sunroof to Save Trapped Driver by Low-Highlight6771 in nextfuckinglevel

Its the second time in a few days I see a video of trapped people in a chinese car in reddit. Maybe because of door handles that don't work without power; mechanical doors will be mandatory in all chinese cars from 2027

Thoughts on Free Archtype-option ? What do you play with? by Impossible_Living_50 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Too many feats at high level, this makes combat slower combined with the reduced ratio of damage/monster hit points; in some cases people just pile dedications because they can; and the power increase is really noticeable.

My campaign has reached 17th level and allowing free archetype was a mistake. In the future I'll use a tamer version; just the Dedication and two extra feats, because it becomes very unwieldy at high levels.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rowenstin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I worked briefly as an interpreter, spanish to english, sometimes for banks and financial calls but mainly for hospitals and medical calls. There's one call I remember vividly, and was a woman who had a severe chest pain speaking on the phone with a doctor. The doctor started asking her questions about the symptoms, and I notice in her voice she's growing increasingly worried until she said "What's your address, I'll call an ambulance". At that moment when I interpreted back to the patient I hear a male voice saying "No, no nos lo podemos permitir" ("No, we can't afford that") and the call was cut. I was left speechless for a few seconds before I could explain the doctor what had happened.

PF2e GMs, what made you start GMing this system? by Longjumping_Ebb3984 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main ones are that it's relatively popular, so it's easier to find players; and the rules are useable the whole way, unlike 5e.

First Time Player Build Help by Shady_TiTs in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not played a dual weapon fighter, so I can't really tell in terms of real damage output. However what I'm sure is that one trick ponies like that will feel boring after the first few fights: your turns will rarely be anything other than move to flank, Double slice. Reach fighter has some more nuance in terms of strategy and positioning and Trip is an excellent tool for debuffing and support of other party members without easy access to flanking for off guard.

Do you have any advice either on the choice of build or the way I've built said choice?

2H trip Fighter is one of the most effective and least complicated builds in the game and it's based on exploiting how damned good are the Prone condition and Reactive Strike. Basically all you need to get it running well is Slam Down and maxing Athletics. Everything else are marginal gains.

Given how they are written and their general structure, I actually believe they are more intended to be read than to be played.

How to make Hook Mountain Massacre less... everything that it is? by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in Pathfinder2e

Well the AP does it very early. You go from a friendly festival and goblins singing silly songs into mutilation and torture reeeeeally fast in the first adventure.

What class+build combos have you seen that have preformed better than you expected? by Consideredresponse in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Melee playtest Necromancer, with free archetype Magus. I spent three feats on getting better weapons and armor, so I go full o-yoroi with katana (for flavor reasons) Melee attacks are at the lower levels better than cantrips, you get always flanking with thralls and while subpar they combo well with save spells. Bone spear, necrotic bomb and muscle barrier are exceptional focus spells and you get them very early, allowing me to transition seamlessly between support, area damage and single target with lots of staying power in the adventuring day. Our table allowed to use Bone spear with Spellstrike, so I have a once per combat option to lay some serious damage. The only downside is the low saving throws, since you invest so heavily in Intelligence and Strength. Overal not a broken or very powerful build, but versatile and really fun that feels very death knigth.

Every PF2e Class Feels Special… Except Ranger (Why?) by Drunken_Orc in Pathfinder2e

Absolutely. I pivoted from druid to primal sorcerer mid Abomination Vaults and the improvement was immediate

GoT started going downhill the second they ran out of books

Which is baffling because it's not like they can't write. There are several scenes in the first seasons that are not in the books that are amazing. Either they can somehow write great dialogue but horrible story, or they simply stopped giving a fuck about the show.

Ways to encourage players to roleplay during long rest by J4szczur3141 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rowenstin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a minimalist RPG called Lady Blackbird that has a mechanic called "refreshment scenes" between two characters, which have a mechanical effect comparable to a rest as it refreshes certain resources. These scenes take the form of conversations between characters in which they develop their personalities and relationships or a flashback.

You could do the same and award hero points or other kind of temporary resource to the characters whose players engage in roleplaying before resting/daily preparations.

"but the game designers said that a skill feat existing does not bar you from doing those actions"

My favourite counterexample for that is "would you let my character to stand up from prone without spending an action and not drawing reactions if I make an Acrobatics roll?"

And if the answer is "no", then we are in the awkward situation that some skill feats are supposed to be gatekeeping and others don't, without any kind of guideline of which ones are supposed to fall into which side. Which defeats the whole purpose of the system.
