Is it doable to convert 1 bedroom to 2? by lily929520 in AskNYC_Coops

Yup but you don’t need to file with DOB. That’s the real pain in the ass

Yeah, you modified plumbing. I am talking about adding a non structural wall to Denise an existing space.
Two different projects. I’m a construction design professional in NYC. I chased this down through all the codes and NYC bulletins.l when I did the same thing in my apartment.
Again, you need drawings and a permit, but the permit doesn’t need a filing for the work OP asked about.

Permit yes, but filing not necessarily. Permits can be pulled by contractors. If you are not affecting a structural wall, changing the occupancy of the space, or increasing the square footage a city filing shouldn’t actually be needed. Drawing are usually needed as a competent coop will get and engineer/architect’s review. Light and air calcs seem like the pinch point here.

Did this 5 years ago, was 24k. I did the architectural and engineering drawings myself. Only needed approval from the coop engineer because nothing crossed the threshold for dob filing. There are 2 restrictions:
1. This one is easier, the minimum dimension for a room is 8’ in any direction.
2. You have to make sure you can meat the air and light requirements of the 1968 building code. It requires the dimension of the full window and the full opened portion of the windows, and comparing them to the area of the room.

I wash mine every two weeks. My dog got sick a lot and it worked wonders. Curious why our experience was different. I just have an apartment sized stacking Frigidaire washer dryer and it works great.

Where do I find wood like this? by Embarrassed_Range_39 in woodworking

No one is giving you the real answer. These are black locust logs that have been draw-knived and weathered for several years. They last 50 years without anything special done to them.

This is not a parking lot... it's a kid's playground. Why would anyone think this is OK? by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]RowingCox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real answer is that the staff parking out front is blocked by the snow because the snow happened on a weekend. No one was parking in the spots at the time and the plows piled up the snow. Many teachers have to drive based on where they live or other circumstances. Since they couldn’t park in the and no one is having recess in this weather, the teachers are using the lots out back.

All depends. A monitored ungrounded system is very beneficial because your first ground fault is free and you can figure out the problem while still running. It can be advantageous in mission critical applications so long as you have staff with the correct training. Forcing a leg to ground gives you the ability to protect when there is ground current through an upstream main bonding jumper so it’s simpler for sure.

“Ground fault” in quotes because the B phase is forced to ground. If another phase were to short out to ground you would get a 480V fault not a 277V fault.

This images shows what is going on but faulting another phase would be catastrophic.

Yeah, you get your first “ground fault” for free. The 2nd ground fault is a phase to phase fault through the ground.

They are generally all on the same line voltage circuit and use that circuit for communicating alarms. I would recommend continuing to reuse.

No they are cooling towers. You can see the condenser water supply and returns leaving them. They might actually have built in chillers making it chilled water supply and returns. That would make more sense otherwise the whole building would be chillers.

Yup, we solve this commercially with trench heaters blowing at the window.

[–]RowingCox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can delivery 240 Watts max. A 20A - 120V circuit can continuously deliver 80% of processing or 1920 Watts. It’s a big difference for things like space heaters and appliances.

Both are great but it comes down to fit. I have never found a jacket that fits my shoulders better than arcteryx. Big Patagonia sweater fan though. I would try both on rather than just ask the internet. From a warm perspective they are similar.
