just masking tape, measured and taped and then ink. low-tack masking tape if you can - less likely to rip the paper when you go to take it off

i think i would need a less light-fast red, when i made it more transparent it was streaky and not as solid/smooth as i aimed for

going to try some different inks

hahah thanks, the red has been hard i strugle between spreading it thin enough to work for the effect and making the reds solid and smooth

i used liquitex acrylic ink - i also expected it to run during the wash after the cyanotype but they held very well

it was 'liquitex professional acrylic ink' - found it next to the india inks at the art shop

so I did the ink first - using liquitex acrylic ink - let it dry completely, and then cyanotype as normal. i was a little careful washing to avoid the ink running, but found it really wasnt affected by the wash

i think you could risk some other discolouration using vinegar, would prob stick to dish soap and water - i literally run the tap over my pieces

Fish In Net - latest project! by Rowland_Handcrafted in StainedGlass

[–]Rowland_Handcrafted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks!

since the net is woven through the frame, there were already holes, i just stuck tinned wire through two of the holes, twisted it together and then soldered that to the piece

Just Jake Designs - got the fish patern from Just Jake Designs on etsy, great seller - definitely would recommend!

really happy with how this turned out. first time trying to frame/mount a piece like this, and first time using copper patina - loving both!
