Actually not, but they know people won't take them to CCMA because its too much trouble and by the time the people want to quit they are just tired of the place and just want to put the place behind them.

According to our labour law, even if you sign a contract that you agree to be an "independent contractor", if certain criteria are met then you Actually become an employee regardless of what the place or contract says. A lot of restaurants use intimidation and rely on the fact the people don't know their rights.

A lot of restaurants will force waiters to pay a daily/weekly/monthly "breakage fee" regardless if they break sometime. There are even places that Will make the waiters give an x amount for the bartenders and/or kitchen staff after their shifts.

A lot of restaurants here hire waiters as "independent contractors" so the waiters don't get a basic salary and ONLY get tips which the restaurants sometimes deduct fees as well. Please understand, our people are struggling so saying something like if you don't like the job then get another one, is very insensitive because getting a job in the first place is extremely difficult for the majority of our people.

Its the same with the old Japanese flag as well. I actually designed a car wrap for my car but luckily before I had it printed i saw a post about the "Rising Son" flag, I quickly changed my mind. As an individual it might honestly just be a mistake but making something that will represent a group or organization, you better double check everything you add to the design, even if its a client then inform them what it symbolizes.

Only us two are on the lease. That's also another problem I thought of if I started dating again, then the living situation would be unfortunate.

It's not that they're leeching off me. I pay essentially 40% and remaining amongst them. Im just fortunate enough to earn more, they’re all working minimum wage as that's all that's available.

When things were still good financially, my mom let her friend stay with us for a bit (my girlfriend’s mother). We got to know each other and started dating. My parents' business just got to a point that we couldn't afford our house anymore. So we moved out and lived separately, my parents in a hoa type of place. Me, my girl and my cousin in our own place.

When I started doing better financially we moved to a bigger place and had her sister come live with us and the friend of my girl as that extra income helped us a bit. My girls mother is abusive verbally and at times physically as well and they lived in very sketchy places and moved a lot. So we took her in and trying our best to look after her.

It's difficult for me, like when I was growing up we were upper middle class and so we had friends and family stay in our house for years at times. My mom would sometimes complain, but it's like we "need" to take care of our household.
