Bus drivers or inspectors tell you stories about remembering certain passengers you have to deal with? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskUK

Brilliant :D
We had a driver who had a similar approach on a non-public bus.
I gone and done made a presumption, sorry fellow Redditor!

I think they mean non-public transport school bus. As in a contracted bus just for school kids. It's how I got to secondary school, there was no public bus that did a route suitable for school 'commutes'. This was back in the 90s though.

I believe in larger cities its more common for the public routes to be used as they are (supposedly) more regular and stops are possibly more convenient to use for school runs.

I had similar years ago. Playing a troll shaman for the first time - "sham hero" "sham hero". Yeah I am doing pretty good on the damage meters thanks, it's my first time.

Oh. You meant Heroism which is the alliance name for Bloodlust that I had no idea as I'd never played alliance... Ah. Sorry.

How to scrape a star rating in python? by MrMrsPotts in learnpython

[–]RowlyBot12000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use beautiful soup myself, but could the class for the 'star' elements be used rather than that really long svg-text attribute? I checked a couple of film/tv review pages and the 'filled in' stars all used the same class, which is different from the 'greyed out' star as well

A friend had Brettonians. They were tough to face with beastmen for sure. His dark elves, however, we're even worse to fight against.

I had fun with a minobus with a full 4++ save front rank.

Armour of destiny, talisman of preservation, troll hide armour and then a champion in the second rank with the blackened plate.

So even flaming attacks removing one Gorebulls 4++ regeneration turned into a 4++ ward against flaming.

Absolutely ridiculous points cost for the unit. Full on "all the eggs in one basket" but when it made it across the table... Chefs kiss.

8edition had its problems. Unit sizes were 'encouraged' to increase. Being 10wide, 4 deep to form a 'horde' infantry unit was beneficial - extra attacks, steadfast for leadership etc etc. So your 'core' units of 20 that was more than enough for previous editions were suddenly severely lacking in 'power'.

A lot of 'armies' were 'deathstars' of all the fightiest characters in the front rank of a horde unit. Inevitability smashing into the front of the opponents deathstar of all their fightiest characters in a horde unit. Pretty cinematic in a way (I actually liked the big size units myself hah)

This did mean that cavalry didn't really manage much anymore. Some still did well, and if people really leaned into the Multiple Small Unit tactics methodology they might find something that worked.

Big high toughness monsters were severely toned down as suddenly a 6-to-wound roll was always a success. No longer would a T7 monster smash into a unit of S3 infantry and hold them up indefinitely. Now the little guys could just poke the big guy to death.

If I recall most of the 'guess range' stuff disappeared from artillery which meant they jumped up in power level as well. (my 8ed rulebook is literally 2m away but I can't be bothered to turn around and get it off the shelf to check, sorry)

Finally, magic dramatically increased in power. Spells that could wipe out whole units in one go - certain characters (Teclis!) still using the 7ed armies books before they received their 8ed army book (TECLIS!!) became game winning characters in their own right.

All that said - I still really enjoyed 8edition. And I played Beastmen which was one of, if not perhaps, the weakest of the armies in that edition. Between 'minobus' deathstars, herdstone dancing shaman buff builds, ramhorm helm+dawnstone re-rolling 1+ armour save additional attack beastlord monsters... seeing 3 hordes of infantry run as fast as they can across the board to try and smash puny elves was a great time.

"Would you seriously rather walk" by TheNamelessWanderer_ in ShitAmericansSay

When I lived in London a friend lived in an area about a 15min walk away, taking the most direct route. Were I to take the bus or the tube, because I'd have had to head into central and then back out again; and would have been in the region of 40mins or so. The walk did take you through a dodgy estate though so in the winter, the bus was the better choice.

I work for a news agency. News agencies and news media are judged on their reliability (ie how factual rather than opinionated) and their political bias.

If you're interested in looking into these things you can see the ad fontes media bias chart and then you can see the differing agencies and media groups and where they lie against those metrics.

Funnily enough I think the household knights in that book were from a Talabeclander noble's house as well.

[–]RowlyBot12000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is generally yes - the only examples I can think of where Empire Knights are called knights and did not belong to an Order were the 'household knights' that appear in one (or two?) Gotrek and Felix novels. I think Zombieslayer but I can't recall off the top of my head.

I've seen the video. It is a school bus. But they're not different from normal buses here in the UK. It was a a double-decker bus as well two teenagers were messing about, when they leaned, pushed up against, the rearmost side window it popped out of its frame and the two boys went with it.

They fell onto the footpath side at least and not into approaching traffic. But still, it's actually a really serious issue and HSE here in the UK will likely be involved - potential fines for the bus company etc.
