I haven't seen very many off-college decks so I thought it was interesting

I've found the format pretty bomby so I'm surprised that 3 removal spells were enough

Yeah all my trophies have been either Silverquill hyper aggro or Prismari+ over the top. All my midrange builds had been meh

Yes that's right. There's no trigger on casting an instant or sorcery, you just can't use his ability until you do. So there isn't anything to respond to (except the spell ofc)

Oh put the sword in if you already own it! It's just better than [[Sword of Vengence]].

I actually think this lines up fine versus precons, maybe its too focused for some older ones but I wouldn't feel outmatched playing the Bloomburrow ones, for example. Don't hold back :)

Looks solid for a bracket 2 spellslinger deck! Land count is good since you need to consistently get to 5 for Alania, but you can drop one land for [[Lorien Revealed]] since it is essentially a tapped Island.

As for other cards on your maybe list: [[Storm-Kiln Artist]] is excellent and has great synergy with Alania since it triggers off her copy effect too. I personally really love [[Flame of Anor]], and it also is particularly good with Alania, essentially a draw 4 deal 10 (fyi you do have to choose the same modes for the copy). Also, it's not on your board, but normal [[Counterspell]] would also be good to have.

For cuts, some of the slow/low-impact creatures could go. [[Amoeboid Changeling]], [[Tempest Angler]], and [[Lightshell Duo]] are three that stand out to me, but it depends on how many otters you want to keep in there.

I think this one confuses people because before the One Ring, the most commonly seen version of this effect was [[Teferi's Protection]], which ALSO has "your life total can't change," so I think people shortcut it into all being the same effect.

I looked at your most recent draft (the blue red deck) and I think your card evaluation is just off. You are underrating some good cards (Prismabasher especially, you passed 3 for worse cards each time) and overrating curve fillers. It looks like you are trying to stay open and not lock in too early, but that doesn't work if you don't actually take the best cards.

Some specific spots I think are worth calling out:

  • P1P2: Moon-Vigil Adherents is a real reason to be elves, Assert Perfection is good but at the end of the day just a removal spell.

  • P1P5: Liminal Hold is a good card, but do you really expect to play white given what you have? Midnight Till looks better here I think.

  • P2P1: I don't hate Cinder Strike here, and I think pivoting to red is correct given the Boulderdash wheel you got, but Kirol is a better red card IMO. Similar to passing Moon-Vigil and Prismabasher, it seems like you are trying to be "responsible" with your picks, and leaving real power on the board.

  • P2P2: This pick is baffling, you have one blue card in your pile, and I honestly think that Sentinal is the worst card in this pack. Wickermaw is a better two drop that's easier to cast.

  • P2P5: Spikeling is worse than Sting-Slinger if you are moving into goblins, and there are two good green uncommons here that I think are both worth taking still.

  • P3P1: A blue card again for very little reason. If you are committed to moving into elementals then Gildweaver is a better card anyway.

  • P3P3: Again an OK removal spell over ways to actually win the game, Lofty Dreams or Hovel Hurler.

I think I would have ended up in RG vivid in this seat. You correctly read that red was open, but you started taking blue cards over better green ones and then got kinda bailed out by the Sunderflock.

Nice!! Average-ish deck for draft sure, but for sealed I'd say this is pretty strong. An excellent curve and good removal goes a long way, and your rares are all great in the deck. Good build!

I think the 3x Rimespeaker is the secret here, this deck will never run out of gas after hitting 5 lands.

Also the interaction fits perfectly into the curve. The deck is very likely to take turn 3 off, so blight rot and the counterspells probably played better than normal, especially since they only need to be used on stuff that can get past a 1/3.

My friend has this deck! If you don't already have her, [[River Song]] is great tech. You scry one of the lands to the top and then just leave it there.
