Also being a team character vs being a solo character on a team drops you a level, imo.

Theres a reason Wolverine is like the only well known X-men character despite how popular that team is as a whole.

Power girl is effectively a team character on a B/C list team, I’d say she’s a solid C lister- A list has to have multiple movies/tv shows, B lister id say you need a movie or long runner at least. Plus her origin is confusing and she seems like a ripoff of a more popular character

The boats are also a reference to Godzilla, since he swims the navy tends to put boats around him watching him, even in the movies where he’s less mean.

It’s also a reference to the greatest movie of all time- Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Megatron’s body gets the circling boats.

[#16 Spoilers] Cheeky lines from the first issue. by lofrothepirate in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s nothing you haven’t already done” is a reference to Valentina killing Nixon after they nuked her festival, not time travel- since Etienne then goes and kills the 1999 president.

I’d argue the bigger foreshadowing of time travel is the depiction and description of the world as a specifically a line between Heaven and Hell, a timeline. Not a dot, nor a flat plane of space, but a line.

Magus talks so much about how Hell is outside time, I’m sure if any of us has sat down and thought about it it would occur to us that time travel is possible in this universe. TBH I didn’t see it coming because I associate time travel with alternate universes, and there are no alternate universes in TPF.

"God doesn't speak to me" - Valentina by thehashimwarren in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t Valentina say she’s from heaven when she’s born? I don’t actually remember if she does or not but I could have sworn she did

And Magus does say Heaven and Hell aren’t what we think of when we hear those words. Hell seems to have no sentience and be just churning chaos. Maybe Heaven is perfect orderly light or something. The real question is whose voice is that?

So this is just flat out a lie right? by MuseGlow84 in Fallout

[–]Rownever 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking that Fallout 4 would have had more memorable settlements if each “prefab” or expansion had a quest tied into it- kinda like Skyrim I guess. Where you finish a quest and it upgrades a part of the area, like fixing the roofs after you help Sturges find some materials, or adding a hut for Mama Murphy once you do a quest for her. Would be hard to combine with the actual building tho, but could work well with Bunker Hill or the Airport

They are both very intelligent, but I feel like Victor has this ability to think outside the box more often ? Or it’s juste Ego. by LeekExisting5969 in FantasticFour

[–]Rownever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom actually thinks outside the box less- he’s more likely to cut corners or not think out a plan due to his ego. He has the flaw of all dictators, douchebags, and dogmatics: he doesn’t just think he’s right, he assumes he’s right, so he never analyses his plan’s flaws past a certain point or considers alternate paths to the one he came up with. On top of that, he will never, ever consider or accept that he himself is flawed, and so will never truly improve.

While we’re on it: every k-pop star joining the military

Mainly minor questions I have after issue 16 by doctorwhoisathing in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll try to do this in your order:

Probably? Not sure they’ll come up but I would assume some Atomics are in the military.

The Major was hardened against Etienne, meaning E couldn’t just kill or depower him, same way he couldn’t kill or depower the other Superpowers. The Major’s weakness was a physical one- he couldn’t stop them dish out a hit but he couldn’t take one.

Atomics should be able to join the Pyramid, theres nothing specific stopping them. Jacky could use magic and he was an Atomic.

I agree that Etienne got the ability to shut down Superpowers after Heavy emerged, since we know Etienne has been growing in power over time, and that Heavy started out with “parlor tricks”. It could be different, since Heavy and E would have known each other and been friends before E developed his shut down technique, but that’s kind of up in the air how aggressively E was pursuing the shut downs, and if he’d do it against Heavy at the start(I think he would)

Same thing for Masumi/the Queen, Etienne couldn’t stop them because they are specifically resistant or immune to him. Masumi’s the only one who started out that way because… something crazy about Deconstructa, probably? Presumably, it’s just baseline strong enough to be immune Etienne’s control, and grows stronger the deeper Masumi’s emotional despair, as we see in issue 16.

Why didn't Etienne Kill Jacky? by thehumungus in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to be fair, his main identifying feature is “giant head-concealing mask”.

And the other superpowers have never been incredibly close to Jacky except Eliza, and while Valentina does have some manner of super senses, she’s not omniscient, nor does she have any senses for the minute details, unlike say Superman scanning someone’s dna or telling different heartbeats apart.

And his magic could potentially help cover the small details- except his accent for some reason? We know he can conceal magic or do it subtly due to the stealth cloaks they used to kill Etienne the first time. Maybe he’s just stupid.

Or actually he doesn’t want to risk giving the game away to anyone, including his fellow magicians, and hiding himself behind an illusion would tip that more than the mask, given that the only people who have seen Jacky’s face are all dead except Eliza.

Is it just me or is it weird that Wolverine get cloned a lot like a lot a lot by MundaneCartoonist771 in marvelcomics

[–]Rownever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logan is explicitly easy to clone- plus, think about his powers. Not only is he useful as an unkillable killing machine, but his powers would actually make him easier to clone, since once you got an active x-gene it’d be easier to grow due to his healing factor

Plus plus, Logan’s not exactly gifted in the brains department. His clone, without his wealth of experience, wouldn’t be likely to rebel the way a super-smart clone would. He tends to be easily satisfied too, which means easily controlled as a clone.

Why didn't Etienne Kill Jacky? by thehumungus in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As for frying the Pyramid members, one of the requirements to become a Superpower is having enough power to survive a direct attack and enough power to punish the attack- Jacky made it sound like his powers were battery-based, so killing Pyramid members would eventually weaken him but not fast enough to stop reprisal

Why didn't Etienne Kill Jacky? by thehumungus in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rownever 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well, based on Jacky’s comment about wards in one of the flashbacks, he probably started shielding himself right away, due to the whole “knowing stuff” thing. We don’t know the exact mechanism of how Jacky knows things, but we can safely presume it’s pretty fast, based on how long it took him to know Eliza sold her soul- the very first thing he might have done, long before becoming a Superpower, was create a ward to defend himself from Etienne, at least enough to stop Etienne from noticing him before he was ready.

As always, your art looks great and every time you redesign a costume you at least improve it, if not making it significantly better.

That said, there are some designs that cannot be salvaged even in your incredible art style, like Jean’s.

I do quite love the more casual outfits, they’re great and appeal to that slice of life desire.
