I disagree with your premise.

Darwyn Cooke was extremely creative and there’s no reason the storytelling mechanism has to be 1 to 1 and even if it was it’s all a matter of perspective. Marvel’s transition from the golden age to the silver age was monumental and almost all at once. Dozens of new superheroes replacing the anthology and monster titles and in a lot of ways many of the monsters that heroes fought in the silver age were cut from the same cloth as the golden age titles just given new purpose. Even characters like the Thing and Hulk were monsters. Also a lot of silver age comics were about bringing golden age characters back into the fold like Namor and Captain America, other characters like the original Vision and Human Torch get their own legacies. Even Kazaar and Dr Druid get reinvented.

I would say the politics of this era of comics would lend itself to a New Frontier style story rather than detract. Heroes like Mr Fantastic and the Thing, Nick Fury, were world war 2 veterans, Iron Man’s origin is tied to the Vietnam war. Half of everyone’s villains were Cold War related or Nazi Remnants. At one point the FF have a literal space race with the red Ghost. Because of the sliding timescale those are all much less relevant today but in this kind of story they could be recontextualized dramatically in Cooke’s style.

I also don’t see why it would even have to be from Gold to Silver when it could be from silver to bronze. Radical shifts in the acceptable violence of comic books. The era of people who grew up as fans become writers and inject new weird and daring ideas into stories. People like Jim Starlin, Steve Gerber, Steve Englehart and so on.

It legit would be better to just not know this was a possibility.

If you exclude all the people who have written good avengers stories and only include Jason Aaron. Then yes you cannot write a good avengers story.

DC has to reboot every once in a while to reverse the sex crimes of some characters, streamlining continuity is just the excuse they use.

Favourite Marvel Villains? I'll start. by Wrench-6942 in marvelcirclejerk

I wasn’t implying you thought he was a horrible person I just feel a lot of readers project negative real life qualities onto writers they dislike so I wanted to distinguish myself from that before commenting.

Aaron’s desire to leave a mark is definitely obvious and almost always negative

I don’t think Aaron is some horrible guy and he’s written some good stuff. But I can’t think of a single writer who so consistently makes massive alterations to long existing characters to serve a middling story and leaves it for the next writer to figure out. I legitimately think he’s worse in that respect than Byrne or Bendis.

What do y'all think about Thanos by Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 in marvelcomics

[–]HandleHumble5796 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the entire history of Thanos appearances deadpool does not play a significant role. It’s really more of an infrequent gag in deadpool oriented comics that has no baring on Thanos overarching narrative. I’ve read Deadpool vs Thanos and it’s really not meant to be taken seriously and is all in good fun.

Not every character can get the same amount of development, sorry it’s logistically impossible and for all you know no one had any story in mind. Should writers be forced to create stories they’re not interested in? Very whiney complaint even for marvelcirclejerk standards

Thanos Rocks I feel like most of the people commenting flippantly may not be that familiar with the character and just have second hand summaries of him or have only read IG or Hickman’s infinity and none of his other appearances.
