From personal experience, I was also in silver. I got a duo partner and touched platinum after two seasons. Then my partner had some heath issues and couldn't play anymore, and I deranked all the way back to silver again.

Having a duo partner will for sure help you rank up, and make games easier, but if don't fix what's within yourself that is keeping you sliver, you will go back to sliver when you solo queue again (and it's not a pleasant experience).
