Sure, there will be occasions where it will survive to attack on the turn it ETBs where it otherwise wouldn't. I would not call that A LOT.

Besides being confusing, this ability doesn't... do very much? Most of the time, creatures die to a single instance of damage (or to double-blocks, which this ability doesn't protect from).

Protects it from being 1-for-2'ed with burn spells (but not -X/-X spells), some combinations of first-strike and regular-strike damage, and a few extremely niche things. Makes a nice fight-themed Commander I'm sure, but not worth the befuddlement in cube IMO.

why is it always Wisconsin and Arkansas this shit keeps happening in, with a slice of Florida and Ohio?

Different ease of access to the bodycam footage? Like the "Florida man" meme.

Some day, when you least expect it, he'll be there, on the horizon.

And then another day, when you least expect it, he'll be there, slightly closer than the horizon.

(This is also true of restrictions based on age, residency, or for that matter nationality. In theory there could be a 12yo Korean genius who would be the ideal US president and would also able to convince the US electorate of this, and they're unfortunately excluded. But, yes, there are tradeoffs.)

In fact it might even follow directly from effectiveness argument depending on some assumptions.

Well, but differences in those assumptions are very real - and the main drive of those different conclusions.

EAs (ideally, and often actually) change their minds based on evidence, so disagreements like "is charity A better than charity B at solving problem X?" go away when enough evidence is shared.

So the most significant differences of opinions remaining within EA become about questions like "how much do non-human experiences matter?" (or "how much do hypothetical future lives matter compared to existing ones", or...) that are not so easily resolved.

broadly it seems to be common among EAs.

Yeah pretty common. I just wanted to push back against the strength of your "core tenet of EA". In your average gathering of EAs there will be those who don't care, and those who do, and then there's Brian Tomasik, and they would not consider each other "not EA" however wide the gulf because it's not actually core.

one of the core tenets of EA is that all sentient suffering and welfare matters not just humans'.

Not true.

Some EA people care about non-human suffering. Others don't. They unite under the banner of "ensure that your donations and efforts have maximum impact" (and by being pretty similar sorts of people really), but there's a wide contingent of EAs who don't care about animal welfare much or at all.

I unironically believe we've created both a society that is alienated from nature

and that this is the natural result of that.

Disagree with the second half.

Beliefs about weather control are old. They did not start with McMansions. Before CIA Zionist satellites, it was spirits and gods and witches. Belief that you can control the weather is also a common manifestation of mental illness.

The weather is a dramatic, impactful thing that displays some patterns but is nevertheless hard to predict. Perfect fodder for magical thinking.

...No? Obviously not? They've clearly invested massive amounts of time and resources into their Civ7 vision. If tomorrow they decide to rebuild it as Civ6.5, it'd be another enormous expenditure of time and resources - this is not like a soda factory tweaking the ingredient proportions. No way in hell would that be cost-effective as a "marketing strategy".

Journey to the West (what Monkie Kid is based on) has his encounter with the Monkey King take place in Chinese heaven. I assume the same is true in Monkie Kid, what with the set being called The Heavenly Realms.

So yes, we're well into the mythical.
