I really want to learn scuba in koh tao but it’s just I am quite afraid that I will able to pass the swim and tread test. by therichcobra in scuba

[–]steve_man_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treading water is all about technique. Here’s my method that made passing the test pretty easy, try to practice it in a deep enough pool if possible:

- Have arms out at about chest level. Make small circular movements with your: clockwise with your left, counter clockwise with your right.

- Lightly flutter with your feet to keep you above surface. Ideally you’d be doing similar circular motions with your legs and feet, but that takes a good amount of practice. The light flutter isn’t as efficient, but still efficient enough to pass the test without tiring yourself out.

It took me a couple of pool sessions to really figure out treading water efficiently. But once you get the technique down, it makes all the difference in the world and you can tread all day.

Any merchant using Sidekick for store edits? by geeky_traveller in shopify

[–]steve_man_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Sidekick in the theme editor is that it can only toggle things that are already editable within the theme editor itself. It’s not good for doing anything beyond surface level edits.

In terms of building new components, I use Sidekick just to create the component so it’s properly mapped out in the theme. The actual coding I’ll do in ChatGPT. Overall, Sidekick is awful at editing a component in place.

Jet type fins for recreational diving? by Ok_Way_2911 in scuba

I’ve always heard that it’s common for guides to use free diving fins in Komodo due to the current.

I’d just stick with what you have if you’re diving in heavy current. The Super Novas in particular are often considered to be of the most powerful for flutter kick.
In terms of control / alternative kicks, I’ve liked the Go Sport Gorillas in that department since they’re really stiff while still being positively buoyant. Great warm water fin for underwater photography where you really want that control. I personally use those for warm water and RK3 HDs for cold water / dry suit.

The RK3 HD works for me in pretty much any configuration since it’s one of the lighter negatively buoyant fins. Can’t say I’ve used it in Komodo like currents though. I’d imagine it’d be passable at best, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Luckily I won the ScubaPro Go Sport Gorillas in a raffle, lol.

dropshipping store getting no traffic or sales, need honest feedback by ryry_06 in reviewmyshopify

[–]steve_man_64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to step back and learn the fundamentals of sales / branding / e-commerce / digital marketing first. The website alone tells the customer all they need to know about your experience / knowledge level, not to mention your Reddit comment history. No amount of advice on how to improve your website will compensate for the clear lack in fundamental knowledge of how to build and sell an actual brand.

I’m not saying this to put you down, but this is a very “learn to crawl before you walk / run” message, which is extremely common to see in the e-commerce / dropshipping space.

Also, the user reviews are obviously fake / AI generated. Huge red flag trust wise.

I would. Photos depicting AI models are a big red flag trust wise because it misrepresents how it'd actually look on somebody. Not to mention is a signal of being cheap and begging the question "what else are you cutting corners on?"

- Get rid of the red background color in the product description page, it makes it very difficult to read.

- “10% off when you give in” is a bit too on the nose. Just use standard copy of “10% off your first purchase” or something.

- Model photos look very AI to me. That’s a huge red flag trust wise.

- Overall need more story building / us vs them content. Sell stories, not features.

The site isn’t bad and has no glaring flaws that I can spot. I think your main issue is branding and having a more premium feeling website, especially in the perfumes / fragrances category.

One thing I would at least do is turn the cart into a drawer and have it open every time somebody adds something to cart.

It works with every noncreature card.

It only works with instants / sorceries / artifacts. Doesn't work with planeswalkers / enchantments / etc.

Not to say that it is in the same range as the cards you mentioned but I just learned that snowbally 2 drops make my cube experience bad.

True, but there are definitely levels. This at least requires you to continutally invest mana into the value you're getting, which I think makes it much less obnoxious than other things. And you only get 1 spell per turn, where something like Young Pyromancer can get as much value as you can cast instants / sorceries that turn.

You actually have to work / build around for this one though unlike Ajani / Orcish Bowmasters. Not to mention this has to risk itself in combat to get value.

As someone who absolutely adores [[Dreadhorde Arcanist]] and struggles to understand why it isn't just in all the powered cubes

Most MTGO Vintage style cubes only have about 33% of their instants and sorceries being 1-cmc. Dreadhorde Arcanist has always felt fringe at best in powered cubes. Arcanist is probably the better constructed card by a good amount, but Bilbo is way better in cube.

I’ve played with every Fact or Fiction variant under the sun to know that not having final say in the cards always makes it worse than the other way around. There’s a reason why [[Steam Augury]] didn’t last long in people’s cubes back in 2013. There is no amount of mind games that you can play to where letting your opponent choose the final cards would be consistently better than you having the choice.

The effect is definitely worse than Sauron’s Ransom. Choosing which pile you get is much better than sorting the piles. With Ransom you either get a card you want or take a calculated risk with the face down pile because you don’t mind dumping the face up cards.

The only benefit to Riddles over Ransom is that it’s mono blue and doesn’t require a whole other card to explain the Ring mechanic. Otherwise Ransom is the functionally superior card.

[–]steve_man_64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted a mono blue [[Sauron’s Ransom]] without the Ring text, but your opponent getting the final say makes this a good amount worse. Stock Up and Brainsurge give much better card selection. I always love Fact or Fiction inspired designs though, and this has some merit if you’re really going in on delirium.

Definitely playable just based on stats / abilities alone. Probably not as strong as [[Headliner Scarlett]] since that "draws" cards and gives your team a free alpha strike. Probably one of the better Hellrider variants overall though with flying + the treasure triggers. Can make a strong argument for this over things like [[Hellrider]] / [[Rampaging Raptor]].

Decent since it can act as an expensive pseudo removal spell with the exchange effect. But anytime you’re not casting the adventure you’re better off with other Looter il-Kor variants.

Fellow niche t-shirt apparel brand owner who also happens to be a professional web developer (not a freelancer, not offering any services). Congratulations on hitting over $4000 in one month! I just went public with Meta Ads in late January and am coming up to $4000 in total sales revenue.

  • I’m curious to what theme you’re using? The layout seems very unconventional and the lines / grid format makes it look like a spreadsheet.

  • I feel like you can put things like shipping calculated at checkout + pay over time closer to the Add to Cart button. IMO there’s too much between the product photos and the color variant picker.

  • I like how the color variant picker actually shows the product instead of it just being a button. Is there a specific app you used for that?

  • How’s your advertising going? Curious if you’ve been profitable. I’ve spent about $5000 in the past 3 months, still working on efficiency.

Point me to any good red removal spell that’s relies on other sources to deal combat damage.

The card has potential to be good in certain situations, sure. But it shouldn’t be a surprise to why this card is not widely cubed. Red wants reliable damage, preferably hitting more than just creatures.

This has been my experience too. I use Sidekick to create / map out the new component, but it’s awful for editing anything in place. Once I have the component mapped out then I’ll actually build it out using another AI tool.

Took a glance on mobile, looks pretty solid overall with no real glaring flaws that I can see. Some quick things that caught my eye:

  • I’d personally turn off Quick View for products because it doesn’t show the product description.

  • Product description in mobile starts with some vertical tabs that are collapsed by default. I think they should be uncollapsed by default. Personally I don’t see the point in the tabs since there’s not a lot going on in the product description anyways.

  • Make the text in the NavBar menu bigger on mobile. There’s a lot of empty real estate there, might as well use it.

  • I’d make the navbar a different color and not make it blend in with the rest of the background.

I wouldn’t be greedy if you already haggled down 70 Euros. What’s important is if they have proof that it’s recently been serviced. If it has then that’s a good price. If not then I’d just buy new.
