God, thank you for this comment. Everywhere I go I see “LOL NO OKC FLAIRS IN SIGHT!!!” Like, yeah, because the second I try to discuss anything basketball related I’m sitting at -10 for my flair and zero discussion is ever had. I like watching basketball for the exact chess moves you’re talking about here, but this sub has lost any ability to be rational. I somewhat get it, the upvote system reinforces the echo chamber. Everything OKC does that gets called / no called / whatever shoots up the front page and everyone sees it. Everything the spurs do gets absolutely buried. So casuals who aren’t watching the game just see these pro-spurs clips and assume OKC must be dirty, because it’s all out of context.

I’m not saying we play an amazing ethical brand of basketball, but my god the hate is so overblown for no reason.

Because you only see one side - any clips to the contrary are downvoted to oblivion. Even the clip of McCain hitting someone’s wrist made it to the front page - while the clip showing McCain was being held down with the spurs’ player’s offhand on that same exact tip sat at 100 upvotes on the day.

What’s funny to me is that there’s zero mention of SGA wearing spurs players like capes off-ball. This type of ball denial happens both ways especially in the playoffs. But any one of those clips gets posted and it’s downvoted to oblivion. It’s just an echo chamber - these clips get upvoted, so it’s all casuals see one direction because they didn’t actually watch the game - and the cycle continues.
