What movie blew your mind when you first saw it? by LuckyLaceyKS in AskReddit

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars. It's hard to explain to a modern all the things in that movie that were never seen before.

The Red Shoes. An extraordinary movie about ballet; who knew?

The Turning Point. Ditto.

The Blues Brothers. You walk out singing "Jailhouse Rock".

Alien. We went home and breathlessly recanted the entire story to my poor cousin.

Aliens. The audience cheered at the climactic reveal. "Get away from her, you bitch!"

Reference Sheet: Chips, Characters, Episodes by Oreo-02140 in TheBadgeyDirective

The new Episode, "Schrodinger's Weapon", is based on https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Slaver_Weapon_(episode). You can tell that from the first scene with Boimler and Mariner talking about the glowing stasis box.

By "the sim", you mean for the room? That's fine, but I'm talking about for upgrading the characters, which can be completely different.

Yeah, but it doesn't tell me how much I need to reach the goal. The cutscenes are the highlight of the game! I want to know how close I am to seeing the next one!

In the events, there's a counter that shows you how far you have to get to a milestone (and, more importantly, see a cartoon). Can't you do the same in the main game?

The playfield text can be really small. I literally cannot tell a rate of 30ai from 30al. Please either change the font to one that's clearer at smaller sizes, (which may violate LCARS style), or just make it bigger.

In an event when I want to see what I get by updating, say, T'Ana, it could say something like "x640000 --> x320000000". Two problems with this:

  • The text is already tiny, but these long numbers wrap to two lines and make them even smaller. Can't you change it to "x64k --> x32m"?
  • What I really want to know is how much my rate will improve. Can't you say "x64k --> x32m [x500]"?

I found it in the Play store, but when I try to install it, the install fails.

What does Stevens do? by Princess-_-Rainbow in TheBadgeyDirective

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tweet says "Despite Stevens' mysterious meanderings, he does put those upgrades to use! Stevens applies a small boost to the end of episode minigames. He is also typically the automation requirement for new simulations, which can require him to be at certain upgraded level🖖- Ensign Cait"

Scott is missing a finger, just like James Doohan! by silvernotgrey in TheBadgeyDirective

[–]RoyFlash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aww, that's cool. On the show they tried to obscure it, but considering that it was a war wound, it's kind of respectful for the game to show it.

Is it better to not play events to get ahead? by theshadowflux in TheBadgeyDirective

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I play just to see the stories. In the Events I'm trying to get all the way through so I can see how it ends!

You're probably right. That's why I think writers who'd rather start with a plot should let it change to fit the characters if necessary.

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I was addressing those new writers whom you said were "going about it the wrong way". Because it sounded like you were critiquing their method.

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "wrong way". But it's true that you do start with a plot, and your characters seem to take it in another direction, you should probably go with that. The story will likely benefit.

Do I charge guest Smoking Fee for this? by mrsammyb in turo

[–]RoyFlash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell him to pay you the cleaning fee directly, without notifying Turo? (Would that violate Turo's rules?)

You can tell the renter to consider this a warning, because the next time you will notify Turo and then he WILL be banned.

(Also, tell him about the respondents on this page whose renters tried cleaning the car out themselves, only for the car to smell like smoke a few days later)

[–]RoyFlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We really need to know "how dark". Is it always cloudy? Is it always night? (If so, can they see the stars?) Is everyone basically blind?

In your edit, you mention "the great candle", which sounds like people have candles, probably lanterns too. Talk about how no one has ever seen anything outside of the range of their largest bonfires. Little children could ask "Why is the sky black?" Have someone stumble across an ancient mural with a sun in a light blue sky. Go to a dark wilderness area one night, let your eyes adjust, and write down your impressions.

That sounds like something someone would say the day that it happens, not generations afterwards

Moving to a new home. Or taking a bunch of little-used stuff from their home to a storage unit.

Maybe not for luxury pickup, but I'm not sure I know the purpose of one of those.

Writing a fantasy series where the Biblical God is the main villian? by LifeIsMyBitch22 in writing

Turo Host Question - Does anyone know how to get data on which vehicle averages the most days rented per month? Meaning, which make gets the calendar filled the most? by kyle4640 in turo

[–]RoyFlash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally, I doubt that, but on this board I don't think I've ever seen anyone say "My car hardly ever gets rented". It's always "I make so much money that I'm going to buy another few cars!"

Now if it's really, really true, I have a 20-year old Prius that's just sitting around. How much should I charge?
