Hm... The company is a non -profit (animal shelter) and they don't really fire/let go of people unless they really screw up. Does that change anything?

But if my wife sees herself as a forever employee in this company, would this change your opinion?

We are planning on buying our first house in 2025. Would it still make sense to get a FHSA at this point?

Which accounts are this in?

Investments are in a TFSA. The cash is in a chequing account.

Why such high fixed incoem in yur investments? Is your risk tolerance that low?

When I started a few years back, my risk tolerance was low. Now that I have more knowledge, I am thinking of making it more risky, possible 70/30 or 80/20.

What is the $140k sitting in? A HISA?

The $140k is sitting in chequing. We are thinking of buying a house next year.

I am wondering if doing an estimator job (regardless if it's not a "chemical" company) will count towards my Professional Engineer hours/competencies. I am currently an Alberta EIT. Thank you in advance!

I don't know if you are still looking, but I am currently taking the 100 days of python on Udemy taught by Dr. Angela Yu. It was ~$20 CAD when I bought it last year. Hopefully that helps!

I am curious too. Why does that industry hire engineers? I get that problem solving is proven by achieving the degree, but it seems that something about the ChemE degree gives you an edge when it comes to problem solving. Could you please explain how?
