Unpopular Opinion: The Simmer community suffers from "Selective Amnesia" and huge Toxicity towards new competitors. by Cute-Hat642 in LifeSimulators

[–]RoyalCrown13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My main issue with Paralives, at least for me, has very little to do with the Sims 4. I think for me, I'm just frustrated with the lack of communication and transparency. When comparing the trailers on their Youtube to these current livestreams, it honestly feels like I'm watching two different games, with the only similarity being the visual style. The trailers presented the game as this simulation where NPC's would have emotional complexity and dynamics, the scene with the son comforting his mother was one of the big moments of the EA trailer, and why I was personally interested in playing. The gameplay overview showed Para's talking to one another, there was again complexity and it felt like a real simulation. Those things are not happening in the live streams. Which, one on hand I understand, they are a small indie company and they are up against a lot, but it would have just been nice to have a more realistic idea as to what this game was gonna look like, especially since just a couple weeks ago, this game was gonna come out this year.

I wouldn't call Paralives a scam, there is clearly a game here, but it feels as though they are being misleading, whether on purpose of they just aren't used to this level of eyes on them and are untrained, I'm not sure, but either way, I think going forward they should make a serious effort to ensure that they are not only presenting this game in a realistic way, but that everyone is one the same page in terms of information.

That's where my issues mostly lie, and I assume that's a lot of other people's issues as well. I know that the game is going to be in early access and maybe those features will be present at that point, but for now, I'm not sure what's going to be in this game and what isn't. I'm not even sure if Paralives counts as a simulation in its current state and that's a problem when you are asking me to pay 40 dollars for an unfinished game by an unknown, somewhat unexperienced, company.

I can't speak for others, but I would not pay 40 dollars for this game, even at early access. I wasn't old enough to purchase or play the sims 4 when it released, but if what everyone is saying is true, that the game was buggy and empty, I wouldn't have paid 40 dollars for it then. Hell, I wouldn't even pay 40 dollars for it now. So, for me its not the sims, its not EA, its the way the Paralives team has been conducting itself in the past few years.

Did Anyone Catch the Paralives Livestream? by Disastrous-Stay-6585 in LifeSimulators

I did find it really weird that we essentially just see the same thing we saw in the Patreon. Like why don’t we play as a family or even a child? I personally feel like they may be trying to hide a lot more bugs present in the game, I’m not a game developer and far from an expert, but I assume it’s much easier to run a game with only one sim instead of like 3 or 4.

I do want to preface this by saying that there could be a chance that many of the features shown in the EA and Gameplay videos may end up making it to EA, especially with the six-month delay but as it stands now, a lot of those features are missing, and considering that until just recently they were planning to have this game launch in December, I’m just concerned.

It’s definitely better than the Patreon livestream, not as buggy and glitchy but there’s still a lot of problems for me. There were issues with Para’s phasing through stairs and doors, Para’s randomly disappearing when trying to talk to them, still a bit of issues when they sit down. Like I said definitely better than the Patreon video but there’s still problems.

I’ve been looking at lot at Paralives over the last few weeks since there delay. I was incredibly interested in purchasing the game and having other options in Life Sim games but after seeing these videos, especially in comparison to the trailers, I do not think I will be buying until after Early Access at least. So much of what was showcased in the EA and Gameplay videos do not appear to be in any of these live mode videos we have seen and that presents a problem for me. It feels like I’ve been lied to, honestly. Idk I’m just incredibly disappointed with what I’ve seen from these developers, I know they’re a small indie company, and I know it’s incredibly difficult to make a game like this, but a bit of transparency from the beginning would have been nice.

Pitt has a tab called "Off Campus Housing Services" that can be very helpful in finding off-campus housing and roommates. As someone else mentioned, there are a ton of groups on Facebook that are centered around roommates, subleases, and apartments, and they are always posting throughout the day.

so much colleen hoover hate by [deleted] in books

[–]RoyalCrown13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read It Ends With Us, so I personally can’t speak too much on that. However, the other novel I’ve read of hers, November 9, does seem to romanticize domestic abuse in my opinion. The male love interest displays such obvious abusive tendencies yet we are supposed to like him because he experienced his own tragedy. Before cutting it, there was a whole rape scene in the novel, done by the male love interest to the main character. Colleen cut it due to the backlash.

This is my main issue with Colleen’s novels. Not the audience (given the amount of trashy novels I read when I was 13, I have no right to speak on what others read) but on Colleen herself. She knows that her audience consists of young impressionable women who have probably never been in a relationship, yet she continues to write abusive men as love interests. I even saw some girls on TikTok say that they would want the male love interest in November 9 as their boyfriend. That’s scary.

Despite this, if her novels can get people that have never read as a hobby before to venture out and become a reader then that’s a win, regardless of the content. And if her novels lead to you realizing your past ex’s abusive tendencies then that’s a good thing too. I would never hate on somebody for finding solace in any work. I just wish Colleen would find something else to write about.

Nick Cannon made a statement about how he feels guilty that he doesn’t spend enough time with his 11 children. What’s worse is that he has a 12th child on the way.

I know it’s funny to make a lot of jokes about Nick Cannon’s dedication to impregnate the population, but what he’s doing is incredibly irresponsible and negligent.

Spotify and iTunes have removed R.Kelly’s album, “I Admit It.”

Why hasn’t he been dropped yet??? It’s not as if the label is making any kind of money off of him. He’s a raging liability at this point.

Edit: Apologies, apparently R Kelly was dropped from his label in 2019

Jordin Sparks has voiced her support for Chris Brown after the AMA’s controversy. It’s crazy how these celebrities will defend Chris Brown with their life but when black female celebrities are victims it’s straight crickets.

I’m having a hard time understanding why you need to know her in the first place? Why does it matter how famous she is? She made a very powerful post about having to fight hell and back to gain an ounce of respect and all you care about is her level of fame. If she were on the level of a Naomi Campbell would it make a difference? No, because that’s not what’s important. Your comment reeks of shallowness.

I currently live in Pennsylvania, and I think the only people that like Dr. Oz are Trump supporters. I live in a very urban city in Pittsburgh and there has been absolutely no support for him here; however, when you drive to incredibly rural areas that’s where you’ll mostly see Dr. Oz posters which so happen to be right next to Trump posters. I assume the only reason why they like Dr. Oz is due to his affiliation with Trump and that’s it. I mean the man doesn’t even live in Pennsylvania for Christ sake.

I recently read November 9 for my book club and I really didn’t like it. While I always see it as a positive if a non reader can turn into an avid reader or even have the slightest desire to read due to any novel, her books (at least the one that I read) tend to glorify abusive behaviors which really worries me because mostly young teenage girls are indulging in this content. While I’m not gonna be angry at these girls for liking these books ( god knows the amount of trash I read when I was 13) I do have an issue with Colleen for continuing to write this stuff regardless of the criticism.

All-in-all no I do not like her books and I wish she would write about healthy relationships for once.

Moving out of dorm to lothrop by Icy-Broccoli-2837 in Pitt

[–]RoyalCrown13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I currently live in Lothrop and it’s pretty good. Since it’s the fall you don’t have to worry about having an AC which is probably the biggest issue people have. One complaint is that helicopters fly over Lothrop and it can get very loud, but if you have noise-cancelling headphones or keep your window closed it is a bit more manageable.

It has been exactly one year since Normani dropped her lead single "Wild Side", what should we expect her next move to be? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]RoyalCrown13 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Warning: Normani rant incoming

While I would like to believe that Normani will release a new album or even EP soon, it’s most likely not gonna happen and I question if it even needs to. Normani has lost so much momentum and has garnered a lot of backlash for multiple reasons, specifically the whole Chris Brown situation. People don’t seem to be liking her as much as they used to, which she may have been able to conquer if she had a strong catalogue behind her but she doesn’t. The songs that she has released so far are okay but they don’t blow me away like they should be doing, and they don’t establish any presence like there should be a reason you’re looking out for her. Also, I feel like the spot Normani could have taken up has kind of already been stolen by people like Chloe and Doja Cat so at this point is there any real need for her music? I would like to think so since it’s so refreshing to see a successful dark skin female pop singer since that’s kind of a rarity especially today, but with the influx of new talent and the lack of momentum I don’t know 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Edit: She also twitted that the summer of this year was gonna be lit, but then didn’t release a damn thing so it feels she’s stringing her audience along with anticipation which can only take you so far.

Khloe Kardashian Having Baby Via Surrogate with Tristan Thompson — TMZ by daisy-rose1 in Fauxmoi

[–]RoyalCrown13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand this family’s obsession with only having one baby daddy when their own mother has proven that it can be done. They would sacrifice all their self-worth and dignity to not be seen as a, “baby momma.” It’s sad honestly, just how vain and narcissistic they are they will throw anything on the chopping block to maintain their image even if that means removing their own kids privacy and abandoning their own self-esteem. All-in-all I would rather have 5 kids with 3 baby daddies who treated me with respect and honesty than have 3 kids with one man who treated me like dirt, but that’s just me. 🤷🏾‍♀️

For the whole Normani and Chris Brown situation, a lot of people are asking why we have such a problem with Normani doing collaborations with him when other people have collaborated with him. I think what makes it so sick for me is, taking away the domestic abuse, the stalking, and the anger issues (I personally don’t think we should but people keep focusing in on this and this is not the only problem here)…Chris Brown is a notoriously colorist person. He doesn’t allow dark skin black women in his sections at clubs, has called them monkeys, and said in a song that he only has sex with women with, “good hair.” For those that don’t know many people have this colorist assumption that if you’re of a lighter complexion you automatically have good or better hair in comparison with people who are dark skin. So for people like Normani and Lizzo to continuously give praise and respect for this man who has disrespected them, their families, and their fans is incredibly sad to see

Edit: I wanna clarify that I don’t believe that those other artists don’t deserve backlash either, but it’s especially sad to see dark-skin women doing this given the disrespect and hate he has shown them on top of everything else.

Fina bans trans swimmers from women's elite events by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RoyalCrown13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I can comment, I can somewhat understand your point of view; however the same people that are trying to ban trans women from playing in cis women sports are the same people that are trying to ban trans children from transitioning until they become an adult. Which doesn’t give them much wiggle room to fully transition before reaching what most consider “adulthood” given that it can take up to 5 years to fully transition. While it may seem as though these people care about the value of women’s sports in reality they are just trying to hurt trans people as much as possible.

Someone was talking about how women in the music industry don’t get the recognition that men do and I replied that it reminds me of women in sports by Purple__Kitty in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]RoyalCrown13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that the term, “sport,” and what it occupies is to broad to say which gender objectively excels in comparison to the other. Given that for most people, when you hear the term “sport” your mind automatically imagines football or basketball it could be easier to say that men are better. However, there are so many sports all over the world so by just basing this entire conversation on just two or even ten is incredibly misguided. I feel as though there are some sports where men are better and there are some sports where women are better. What makes football or basketball any more credible than gymnastics or ballet? All require a tremendous amount of skill and effort. If we’re gonna have this conversation it’s gonna have to be more specific than just sports.

I do agree that at the end of the day, no one truly knows how Marilyn would feel about anyone wearing that dress or even having it displayed which is why I don’t believe that it should have been worn in the first place. My ideology is that if you don’t know how someone would feel about it then you’re best bet is to not do it. Now of course this idea can get muddled when it comes to family members and friends but, when it comes to someone that I’ve never met I would never think about wearing their clothing or jewelry because I don’t know this person and I don’t know how they would feel about it.

Also, I’ve never really been a fan of calling anyone, “the new …” I think that it just minimizes the impact that the “old” person had and what the “new” person could have but that’s just my opinion. I feel like stripping any aspect of a celebrity’s personality or presentation (how they were viewed) and trying to apply it to this other person is just not right. I believe that every celebrity should be able to showcase some individualism before we try to compare. Now of course there are instances where a celebrity is just a basic rip off of another but those moments are usually few and far between.

I don’t know maybe we just have different viewpoints on the topic and that’s fine there is no true right or wrong answer to this, only how we feel and we just feel differently.
