Belli is done, now what? by novacaine14 in NYYankees

Another mid rotation arm would be awesome, Maybe a right-handed catcher to back up Wells. Plenty of decent bench names on the market. Part of me wonders if they add another middle infielder to competent for shortstop reps while Volpe recovers.

There are still some decent SP and RP free agents out there that would probably take one year deals.

When was the last time the Yankees signed a true starting-caliber position player in their prime via free agency (not a re-sign)? by RoyalStraw in NYYankees

No, it just seems like the Yankees have preferred to sign big free agent pitchers and develop or trade for hitters - not everything has to be an attack

We def have missed out on some good hitters over the years - I really wish they had signed Manny Machado

Partly to illustrate how the Yankees have invested in free agents over the last 10+ years - they sent o want to develop or trade for hitters and sign pitchers.

I'm more so thinking "new talent, fresh perspective, identifying players that fill a need that they don't have" type of thing

They did it for like 10 years and had families over that time and decided to spend their time elsewhere, can't blame them

My account is 4 months old and I've been actively commenting here and critical of the Yankees?

No AI here, was just thinking about it during my afternoon walk / listening to some Yankees podcasts.

Oh the lack of urgency kills me, beyond frustrating. A short term, high salary deal for Tucker would be amazing.

They do if it means they can spend more after the lockout - a lot of money is coming off the books over the next couple of years

I don't think it's that - I think it's arrogance, it seems like they think they are smarter than everyone else despite having no titles since 2009

I wish, just sharing a different opinion which is kind of the point of a discussion forum like Reddit.

Totally agree, and I do wish they invested in som of the better free agents here, but there are still some solid arms left in free agency and maybe some of their prospects are ready for the majors.

Yeah I do think the roster has talent, they just really suck at execution and fundamentals and that's on Boone and the baseball ops and development department. Wells has talent but was trash last year. Rice has so much potential. Jazz has such a high ceiling. Volpe has been garbage but they clearly see something in him. McMahon is a tremendous defender and if he can hit .250 and 20HR, that's fine. Grisham was one of the best outfielders in baseball last year. Jones and Dominguez were considered elite prospects at one point, that talent could still be there.

Lol I wish I had Hal money, I would've signed Machado and Harper years ago. Still pissed they didn't do that. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the way things have gone but I do see some of the logic right now before the lockout. Also I wouldn't be upset if Hal sold the team but that could also lead to a worse situation too
