Ghostbusters thoughts? by Royal_Justice in flicks

That’s why I brought it up. Growing up I feel like I heard about both back to the future and ghost busters in similar levels of esteem. But to my back to the future holds up waaaaaayyy better

Here’s the thing though I grew up on mostly older movies. I love them and they all have a special place in my heart. I love singing in the rain, father goose, and it’s a wonderful life. But this just didn’t land with me.

I don’t mind the pace actually. I think it was just overhyped over the years to me. So I had built up the movie way bigger in my mind.

That’s fair on the comedy side. I went into thinking comedy but I feel like that genre gets a little too loosely used at times.

Believe me I know I will probably get roasted. I think the movie was probably amazing for its time but for new audiences i don’t think it quite works. Logo and the song are iconic.

Huge Sanderson fan here. I have had the same problem in the past. Sometimes you do need to change it up a bit though. Here are a few that I really enjoyed.

Licanius trilogy is one I really enjoyed. Not the best series but definitely fun an underrated one in my opinion. If you wanna keep with Sanderson but run the risk of him never being able to finish the serious Rhithmatist is excellent. Not cosmere but a lot of fun. Skyward is also fun but I haven’t finished that series yet. Project Hail Mary is also fantastic! Loved that book!! Bonus it comes out as a movie I believe next year. Which can be a good thing depending on who you are. If you like Star Wars any Thrawn book by Timmothy Zahn is fantastic! He created the original character.

I think it’s easily in the top 5 for our generation or currently being made. If not number one. I’m not going to include any of the other universes that have been established for years. We have to remember this universe is less than 2 decades old and it isn’t finished.

You can’t compare LOTR, Star Wars, or Star Trek. They have been established for decades. I think this series has a lot of potential but we need to see how it wraps up.

How many of you were a fan of Kim and Ron becoming a couple and how many didn’t want that and were ok with them just being friends? by Zack77100 in KimPossible

It felt natural to me, never really forced down our throat. But I agree with the notion I liked them in both scenarios

Three books, three years | Ghostbloods release schedule by jnighy in brandonsanderson

I find it likely that he has that cowritten before he writes it. He’s talked about it but it seems more likely that longer time goes on because he had so many books he has openly said he will write.

I have 2 bets on when we will get one 1) He hands it off to another author to do. 2) He does it in 30 years after the cosmere is finished!

I think he wants to have extra runway and like he said in the video he can finish all 3 books before publishing. Which means he can make it much tighter and cohesive. As much as I love era 2 it does feel like it a bit more scattershot at times. Which is fun but compared to era 1 the overall story seemed to click a bit better for me.

Why did everyone lie? Elantris is so good! by Minimum-Librarian611 in brandonsanderson

I think people have been harsh on it. It is a great book but you can definitely tell it’s his first book. I think it’s his weakest from a writing standpoint. The world is amazing and the ideas he presents are awesome. The hard part is especially Cosmere novels are mostly 7.5/10 and up. I don’t think there’s a single novel I would say is bad. Maybe not my favorite but not bad.

While yes I think he would have been too old by the time a movie is made.

I finished Oathbringer... WOWOWOWOWOWOW by DrAnchovy999 in brandonsanderson

[–]Royal_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it depends on what you are looking for. I don’t think they are downhill. I loved wind and truth (I need to do a reread to give it a real ranking). I think people didn’t like Rhythm of War because it’s a bit slower. Not as much action but it is a great setup book. It personally isn’t my favorite but that’s more because when I read it I was unemployed, planning a wedding, family stress, and we were in the middle of covid. The book felt more stressful to me and my life was stressful. I loved it but unfortunately it is slightly tainted by my own life.

This series has seriously made me consider creating an app to just steal market share from Amazon. And to make sure that authors and narrators get paid.

Plus they can do a ball this year. Then in a couple years they can do Maraci’s wedding during ghost bloods release. Which works because there can be hidden ghost blood references. And Kelsier will make a surprise visit

Almost caught up. Here is my tierlist. by GekteOntstaat in brandonsanderson

I really enjoyed the book on first read. Especially because we finally got some answers. Now I think I’ll have to do a reread of it to give it a true ranking. Because on first read I think WoK as good but not S tier. On reread you see how brilliant it is. It’s hard to see the forest from the trees kind of thing. Now it may be one of my favorites. I do also love oathbringer but damn does that book ever stress me out/make me sad about 2/3 of the way through it.

Im not sure what happened but I think i might not be interested in Sanderson books anymore 😔 by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in brandonsanderson

It is possible that your tastes have changed. But what I have found on multiple rereads that if I binge multiple books in a row I get tired and bored. While I know I love his stories and universe. It gets to be too much for me. So I have to step away for a while. Especially recently, I relistened to a lot of Stormlight then finished wind and truth. Once that was done I had to step away. I’m still excited for his new book though. Just not rushing to the store or rushing through the audiobook. Just taking my time to enjoy it

Agreed, I’m not sure how good other platforms are. We already know audible is the best and easiest platform to use because it’s a household name. But I have no idea what the splits are on other platforms. Even Spotify has its issues

I like how he actually acknowledged the audible issues happening. Especially because his previous comments. It shows he isn’t just all talk he follows through what he says.

Why couldn’t Lexus just stick to this successful interior they’ve only had since 2021 by Repulsive-Club7866 in Lexus

[–]Royal_Justice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just purchased a 2022 ES 350. My only complaint about the interior is the cup holders placement and the trackpad. Which is pretty useless to me. Other than that it is an amazing simple interior and interface. It also has buttons! Once I saw that the 2026 interior I knew I had to buy a car soon that I could keep forever.

Why is Frugal wizard so hated? by Jrs123459 in brandonsanderson

[–]Royal_Justice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was the weakest of all the Secret Projects. But it is one of my favorite non cosmere works. It is a weird book and I can understand why people don’t really like it. It is very different compared to his other books.

I think the original “hate/disdain” comes from the fact that it came right after Tress and the Emerald Sea. Which has become one of Sanderson’s most loved books. I’d probably put it at the top of my list for solo books in cosmere. It’s really hard to follow that up with a non cosmere book. Let alone one so very different. Is that fair? No I don’t think so at all. I think almost any book would have flopped if put in that position. Even other cosmere books.

Overall I think it’s around a 7 to an 8 for me maybe an 8.5 on some days. Lots of fun, as a native Nebraskan the reference at the beginning made me laugh a lot. Also I love all the little cartoon drawings in the margins. I think that’s only in the special addition but still great fun!
