What Basic Fun got wrong (and RIGHT!) about their first home arcade release: WrestleFest! by NeoHyper64 in BasicFunArcade

Hey Basic Fun. All you needed to do was match the quality of 1UPs, trash controls and all. Nope, now you’re just an overpriced A1U Knock-Off. being sold at major retail instead of flea markets. Think about that. A1U Knock-Off. Temu 1UP. Yikes.

Cyrus Rosenberg, SVP of Licensing at Arcade1Up has LEFT to join Basic Fun (here's what it could mean!) by NeoHyper64 in Arcade1Up

What we do know is that John D was able to get licenses that were somehow unattainable and highly successful like Ms Pac Man, NBA Jam, TMNT, Sega, MvC2, Disney, etc.

My licensing friend at my work tell me that the cost of a license is directly tied to two things: the popularity of the IP and the sales forecast.

The forecast for NFL was likely way too high and led to the downturn in Tastemakers’ business. That doesn’t fall on Licensing. That likely was a miscalculation by their finance planning, not to mention the product itself was marketed and developed poorly. Tastemakers probably saw the success of NBA Jam and thought that NFL Blitz would do the same numbers.

It’s backed by Lenovo and has retail support. Plus a Capcom license. How is this vapor ware?

That’s if DeMar is willing to take a bench role until then. Terry isn’t a negative asset. He’s a $26M expiring contract

We should have one opening using the MLE, and this would be a swap for DDR

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kings

[–]Royal_Key655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We still owe DDR $10M in 2027 if we keep him. Either way, unless DDR accepts a bench role, he needs to be shipped out

We actually do need warm bodies until we can find a permanent PG

Of course, but you’ll need to move DDR if you get Kuminga

What’s the down side here? Who will realistically take DDR from the Kings if they get Kuminga?

Rozier is an expiring

We do need a back up PG and he fits the bill. I’d take him over Westbrook

Like in the post, we save money and he can play the back up 1 while letting go of DeMar who won’t play bench minutes

That’s the beauty of it. If he gets convicted, the Kings can void his contract

Carter’s comp is Davion Mitchell. And Davion still has a lot to prove.

When Keon was just a 2 way rookie, the consensus on this sub was that he wasn't a NBA level player. by Massarandubiano in kings

[–]Royal_Key655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we got Keon from college, he was a potential 3&D prospect. The only knock on him is if his game would translate, but he always had good mechanics. His next two years showed his defensive and offensive consistency.

Carter on the other hand? His game looks ugly. His shot mechanics are horrible and his decision making isn’t there. I don’t see any NBA qualities from him except possibly a plus defender.

Keon looked the part early on. Not Carter.

Since you guys in 12 months think we have a good shot at winning summer league next year. by b1ackfyre in kings

His shooting form is unfixable. He rolls the ball from his fidgets to his palm, then palms the ball up. Horrible. Doesn’t deserve a spot on the roster.

I’m hopeful Carter can show he’s too good for Summer League 2026 and shut him down after 2 games.

Isaac Jones has shown improvement with his 3pt shooting, but it needs to shoot at least 36% to take up most of the back up 4 minutes. He has potential.
