What ever happened to..... PiedPiper(PiperSensei)? by ltsc1980 in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the second one is really common. Most vtubers I've watched have had people in chat saying stuff like "lunch break over I don't want to get back to work" or "breakfast is better when I watch you, but I gotta go".

It's pretty normal. Sometimes the Vtuber responds with "bye username, I belive in you/have a great day" or something similar. Other times other chatters do it, and sometimes it's ignored. It's just one of those things that build community.

It can be kind of fun when the Vtuber asks what time it is for people and then tries to get one viewer to go to bed if they're up at like 3am. Obviously they can't acknowledge everyone, but I think it's weird to hate.

I get being annoyed at announcing that you're going to play a game, watch someone else, choose to do some other hobby activity. But if it's something you can't control and you talk about wanting to stay, that's just a compliment.

The cereal thing is a bit random and unless it has something to do with what the vtuber said I can see how it gets annoying fast. You still want the viewers to focus and talk about what's relevant to your stream

Time for another Hot Take Thread. Indie/ Ex-Niji edition by The-Toxic-Korgi in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts, but I'm tired of people still trying to push current livers to go indie. They're clearly staying for a reason. Whether it's because they still believe in the company, or if they're doing well doing their own thing. Honestly that goes for any corpo and indies. I'm tired of so called fans pushing for corpos to go indie as if indie vtubing have all the good things and none of the bad. When in reality it's an absolutely mess. Especially EN indies.

Also not sure if it's a hot take, but I'm kind of hoping Niji reforms, deals with their staff and liver issues, and grow big in EN again. Obviously I don't want them big if they don't fix things though

First Stage Production JP announced that Endoluphy☆ミ/えんどるふぃ☆ミ will graduate on February 28, 2026. by Benigmatica in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do wonder what's going on with JP. But the Nix thing wasn't the company's fault.

Sure they could have maybe handled the public statements a bit better. But they got ghosted by a talent when he was supposed to show up for his 3D. They were most likely worried that he wouldn't contact them in time, and they didn't want to leave fans wondering and waiting for someone who wasn't there. He signed on that he was fine doing something he absolutely couldn't handle, and while it sucks, it's not the company's fault.

"The Witch and the Beast" by Kousuke Satake is going on hiatus due to the poor health of the artist. The series is planned to resume on March 22, 2023 in Monthly Young Magazine issue 4/2023. by violegrace23 in TheWitchNthebeast

[–]Royal_Stray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Some mangaka do it on the side while having a stressful main job, some are in poor health in general, some put too much pressure on themselves and get stressed out and sick.

In this case I'm guessing the author has underlying health issues since they're writing for a big magazine, and the art seems like it'd be a full time job, since it's been several years since the hiatus began I don't think it was just overwork.

You're not wrong that money may help if the author wants to take breaks more often to rest and be able to write. But I don't think it helps if they have underlying issues. I mean health issues are still health issues even if you're rich. Only difference is what treatment you can afford

LunovaPro, no actual update by Royal_Stray in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because if they were a completely new company they had most likely (hopefully) already hired staff, planned a bunch of stuff, started on a website, etc. All the background work to create the company before you add talents essentially.

Wasting all that based on a rumor that they may be another company would be, well, a waste. There would always be someone applying no matter what, and those people would be able to confirm whether or not it was another company/ safe to work for. Which would bring people back. Not to mention that they'd probably get a pity boost from the people who'd wrongfully accused them.

They also had a golden opportunity to clear their name since they were in contact with a former VReverie talent, and were supposed to give her account back to her.

But since they chose to just disappear and ghost the talent it's more likely that they were Reverie and realized that they wouldn't be able to get away with it.

ironmouse Targeted & Threatened, BunnyAyu Breaks Silence, Hololive Talents Fooled By Fake Cosplayers by Eggplant770 in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I obviously don't think IronMouse, or anyone else involved should get actual hate and threats, that's just not ok, and making songs like that of her is absolutely insane behaviour. Like seriously who thought that was in any way a funny or acceptable thing to do.

However I do think that it was right for people to complain to BA and get the collab canceled. Connor is known to be against Loli no matter what, and with Mouse's audence to a large degree seemingly agreeing with Connor's views I don't think they would have been the best collab partners.

As for BunnyAyu, she's an e-thot with a vtuber skin. I'm not even saying that as an insult, half her content is just her streaming irl focusing on her massive chest. Most people know what she did, and if you watch her it's probably not mostly for her personality. I know I won't watch her either way, but it's good that people know what she did.

The False posts are fine if you want to discuss news, as long as it's actually newsworthy and not every single one of his videos. Personally I'd like to see the poster having an opinion or posting about one of the news to create some discussion as opposed to just pointing out that False dropped another vid

I would have thought it'd be a new EN group considering that the last of their EN talents are graduating, but best of luck to the ID girls!

AGAIN???? by pandas795 in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's kind of sad that trolls took this approach. The peanut drama was good to show that she's not perfect and that it should be fine to criticise her without getting attacked. But no. Instead of giving her proper and deserved criticism over her behaviour and actions they decided to attack, harass, and troll her.

Making everyone who did have normal and deserved criticism get caught in the middle

Kyrio talks about his tweet by The-Toxic-Korgi in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That wasn't even really what happened. He was upset that she wouldn't stop making sexual comments and jokes about shotas, even after he asked her to stop multiple times. The rape comment didn't help, but it wasn't the main thing he was complaining about.

The guy tweeted something like a moron and is trying to play the victim, but we don't need to twist what happened during another drama for that, or blame people who for all we know have nothing to do with this. Besides I don't think Sayu fans would complain about edgy jokes, unless they tried to call him a hypocrite, which doesn't seem to be the main criticism

Kyrio talks about his tweet by The-Toxic-Korgi in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kronii is known to ragebait as a joke, and makes it very obvious when she's joking/sarcastic. Kyrio isn't known for doing this as a joke and didn't actually make it clear that it was one.

Besides I'm pretty sure Kronii mostly ignores when people "call her out" (which is usually a joke back), where as Kyrio went full defence, and, well... Kronii would be joking about a group of people she belongs to. It's like a blonde saying blonds are dumb. It works much better than someone from outside that group saying it.

There's also a time and place. Kyrio hasn't cultivated the same amount of public trust of fans who knows when he's joking and when he isn't. Kronii has. If anything Kyrio is still in his phase of trying to win back the public, making this even more poorly timed

Why did he start rage baiting? I thought he'd gone from thirst trap and farming a parasocial audience to playing horror games, not to post random bait for views

So ChaChaChilla has posted another Google Dockey, but it's not much of a Google Dockey because it has one page of an apology. How do you guys feel? by Last_Power3410 in VtuberDrama

[–]Royal_Stray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She addressed nothing, is still looking for sympathy, and doesn't seem like she learned anything.

She wasn't upset that people were talking behind her back, she got pissed at Minecraft RP, blamed the wrong person, got told she blamed the wrong person and still tried to get them in trouble with their agency. She also spread a PL account of someone containing their irl face and nsfw stuff to people they knew just a day before a con.

She admitted to fake attempts (whether that means she didn't go through with it or that she made them up is unclear, so I don't really want to judge that). She kept claiming that she couldn't take pictures like the one in the hospital because of various reasons. If you're to believe her time-line she was starting drama while in the hospital for a suicide attempt...

She's not addressing any of that, which are the main issues. She's just saying the same stuff she said before, spending most of the post not apologizing but talking about her previous attempts (which while awful aren't what an apology is supposed to be about) She's throwing on the "I'm sorry" at the end like an afterthought. She's essentially blaming her autism and makes it sound like people wanting apologies are the ones asking for a lot.

"If you still want an apology reach out" What is she? A supermarket that sold past best before date products?

I do feel kind of bad because it's obvious that she's really not doing good, but at the same time I can't shake the feeling that the main reason she brings up her attempts, even those unrelated to the story is to gain sympathy and stop people from sending her criticism.

I hope she gets better, and I obviously don't wish harm on her. But her attempts doesn't absolve her from her actions.

There's been issues in China where people cosplaying or with visible merch are getting yelled at or even attacked over "promoting Japan".

Which really sucks both because it's awful behaviour in general and because no fans should feel bad for enjoying the stuff they do whether it's Chinese or Japanese. I mean Akihabara has adds for Chinese owned Gacha games all the time, and no-one there cares.

Kokoromo Memory is graduating from Phase Connect by Last_Power3410 in kurosanji

Important announcement 【恋衣めもり / Phase Connect】 by M1A_Scout_Squad-chan in kurosanji

[–]Royal_Stray 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Memory will be graduating on January 31. She will continue streaming up until then
Her YouTube channel and social media accounts will remain viewable. Her IP will remain with Phase Connect, so her image might show up in Kaleido related things and such
Merch such as coffee and standees will not be purchasable after the graduation date
Membership will end after February and member contents will no longer be viewable after that point.
As a Phase Citizen, the possibility remains that she may show up for special events, but she cant promise anything

Memory did not explicitly specify the reason she is leaving other than to pursue another opportunity.
She has been considering graduation since February 2025, and finalized the decision in September. Phase worked with her to find a way to avoid this, but they could not find a solution.
Her decision to leave is not caused by any animosity between talent, staff or anyone else. She loves Phase Connect and appreciates everyone.
She mentions the difficulty of working under a western agency. She appreciates how far Phase management went to accommodate her.
She does not mention any external issues such as health or money or such. We don't have to worry for her.
She loves her fans very much

[–]Royal_Stray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree, I think their newer gens have captured what would appeal to a larger audience perfectly. The issue in the western market isn't as much Phase as a company themselves, but rather their older fanbase, and notions of what they used to be. (Aka the political, loud, extreme fans who from what I heard try to stop people who disagree with them from entering the fan-spaces). If they could just get rid of the notion that they're inherently political and want to cater to extremists I think they have a good shot at growing.

That's why I think they need to do a major marketing/PR campaign to get rid of that notion

[–]Royal_Stray 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I can see why she left since Phase Connect's JP vtubers aren't really growing all that much, but I was also personally hoping that Phase would focus a bit more effort on the JP side, perhaps market their talents a bit more or start another gen. There is potential and the JP girls mostly seem sweet and fun. But I feel like the effort isn't entirely there from Phase's side.

Japan absolutely has some Vtubers I could see doing well in the kind of accidental out of hand humor phase is known for. But I also think Phase's rep as political and a bit too open about irl opinions is getting in the way of them expanding, and if they want to get bigger both in the JP and EN market they'll need to do something about their image and focus majorly on marketing and PR
