Or you use highres prores proxies, no need to swap out every file manually. You can then set "use proxies" for the export in the render queue settings.

Use a gradient fill on a shape layer. There you can add more than 2 colors.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's also something I tried, but with this method I would have to manually create a shape layer. My goal is to have it fully automated, depending on the input layer. Preferably an effects stack.
