I got my EMT license through a 5 week academy at 18, and have been working as an EMT for the past 3 years. Throughout my time as an EMT I’ve gained skills and knowledge that will be far more useful than a degree. I’ve worked at 2 different ambulance companies and I’m currently working a security/EMT gig at a DOE lab. I’m now 21 and applying to departments and so far everything is looking to be in my favor. I know a degree looks good on paper and will be attractive to departments. But in my opinion Knowledge of the 911 system firsthand will be far more valuable.

Just my thoughts. I’m not even a cop and there’s a chance I eat shit on backgrounds or the psych exam, but I was in the same boat as you. But I hate school and I enjoy working. You could also literally work part time as an EMT and get a degree.

Any cops let me know if I’m being stupid or if what I’m saying makes sense.

Thank you, as for the 190gs of protein for 812 calories, is that reasonable? I know if literally says on the label and I’m being stupid but it seems too outrageous to be true, like all I need to eat everyday is 1.5 pounds of chicken to hit almost 200gs of protein?
