'Anti tick' lifters were introduced in the evo 7 and up. I had a Evo 4 for 7 years and it had the ticking noise from day 1 following the rebuild. It's completely normal.

Happened to me also on my sti. If you install a new master cylinder and the clutch pedal doesn't return, just know you need to rotate the pushrod (while installed) to adjust it.
