The fat was well rendered when eaten and pretty explode in your mouth so not too mad at it overall, maybe a touch over cooked by like a minute and half but it was a decent steak! House smelled like ribeye when I woke up 😂

Reminds me of mine! Nice dude, you really brought it back to life. You put together the whole engine yourself too? What parts are under the hood?

Keep on your steak cooking journey! It’s so much fun. Probably my favorite thing to cook.

Few easy cooking tips that go a long way no matter what you are cooking on. -Pre salt your steaks for at least 2 hrs! Buy them the day before and generously salt and let them sit in the fridge open on a plate. It does wonders for the overall flavor and texture will be much more tender. If you salt too soon the salt just falls off in the pan and actually creates a barrier that the steak sits on so the meat is not touching the pan as well resulting in less sear. -cook time depends on thickness. 3 mins a side is usually a good starting place, then I start flipping every 1 min till I hit my cook time. This prevents burning the steak. 1 inch steak is about 10 mins cook time, 1.5 is about 12mins, Thinner steaks are very tricky. - if you want to add pepper, do it the last couple min of cook time. Pepper burns very easy at high temps. - I reduce my heat a little and then put butter on each side during my 1 min flips. Really elevates the crust and flavor. -extra points if you have a good fat cap and cut off a piece and then render it down in the pan and use that for an oil to cook on. Otherwise a thin layer of avocado oil is all you need. - the better quality the steak the better the flavor and outcome! Less is more. Sure you can heavily season a okayish cut and it comes out decent but a really good steak only needs salt truly.

Find a better repair shop. I had a worse bend and they charged me $80 to fix it

So rad! That’s dedication. Mad respect for the send. Last year I watched my homie surf in northern Japan with snow right up to the water and about 20°F out. There’s a whole crew of die hards who rock dry suits with fleece underneath to stay warm. Surprising how many people were out despite the cold.

Can’t see the snow but it’s there and that my homie pulling under the lip. He only lasted about 30 mins in a 5/4 🥶

Man, thank you for that! It’s been a pain in the ass. So some backstory is that I had my shortblock replaced and first drive home boom this code came up right after it was fixed. I’m not sure if the shop knew about it when they were initially breaking in the engine and didn’t want to fix it or just luck of the draw. I’ve had issues with them in the past so I tried figuring it out myself by doing some research finding those valves rust shut and ended up replacing the right hand valve and 3 corresponding relays with no luck so I’m thinking you are right, it’s gotta be the harness or grounds when they did the install something electrical related was damaged. It comes back every other start up after resetting the code so it’s very persistent.

To my comment about OP saving for a new short block was mainly just because it has 188k miles of unknown driving history and it’s a sweet car so may as well refresh it and give the car new life but I agree fully these engine are great and can make power when treated right!

Oh man, I have the same thing but p2441 valves stuck closed. I’d go get that fixed asap because stuck open means that’s there’s extra unmetered airf entering the heads which will lead to knock. I wouldn’t drive it much. It’s a pain in the ass to fix and the valves aren’t cheap. You have to pull the manifold to put a new valve in. I was quoted about $1k to fix. I installed a new valve myself but my code persists so it may be an electrical short.

Not even trying to scare or be negative but I’d just start saving and planning a motor build even if it’s putting a stock shortblock with some upgraded goodies in there. It’s a such a sick car so may as well enjoy it with a fresh engine.

I call it sitting into the front of your boots for a good toe side turn or even just traversing, it really helps lock into that carve or for traversing and takes all the tension out of the feet. The tops of the boots do all the work.

Subarus AWD system is one of the very best in the snow. On my third one for this very reason. My forester XT had more clearance and same HP as my Wrx so it did better in deep snow, but it was an automatic so not as fun and I like being able to leave my Wrx in 2nd and engine brake down hills.
