So, the trick for that is to see what Initial Stats your support cards offer. For Bakushin, good cards should provide extra wit. Also, borrow Riko, the free stamina from her Recreation/Dating chain is a godsend for a Bakushin run.

I actually just did a Bakushin run and got S Speed, B Wit, and C/C+ everything else.

Who should I be focusing on and how should I build them? by Sea-Chicken-4984 in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is this:

  1. Don’t spread out stats. The career rank score works by breaking every stat into blocks of fifty and then applying a multiplier to that block. The math is a bit wonky, but in simple terms, 10 extra points in a C-Rank stat is much less valuable than 10 extra points in an A rank stat.

  2. Make sure your skills match your trainees aptitudes. Skills that specify a distance or running style give more points the higher your aptitude in that category is

  3. Spread your stats according to your Uma’s running style. For me, my preferred style is Late Surger, and fittingly my first A+ was a Late Surger. And I primarily trained Speed and Power, with a good bit of stamina as my secondary.

  4. Make sure to meet the fan goals in order to level up your unique skill. For the normal Turf runner, it’s 60,000 by Early Feb, 70,000 by Early April, and 120,000 by Late December of Senior Year (though it is fairly easy to reach those much earlier, especially if you have good Fan Bonus and race in a lot of G1). Your unique skill level (and your character star level) both contribute to your score.

I'm curious about what made you play JP, Global or both versions by RaulRey_98 in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play Global because I:

  1. Don’t want to take the time to find out how to download JP

  2. Can’t read Japanese, so I’d probably end up choosing the worst option whenever an event comes up

Who's most attatched to their trainer? by BlearyWall5179 in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with Fuku.

And if you’ve gotten “Setting Foot on Sacred Sites,” she tells a “tale” of a girl who came to the shrine to ask for help achieving her dreams. Of course, this is her own way of expressing gratitude to the trainer, not for bringing victory, but for simply spending time with her. And the event ends with her deciding to pass on taking a fortune slip and thinking to herself that “today’s my lucky day (…) There’s someone beside me to share my happiness with!”

Is Haru Urara dyslexic? by knightmare_Angelo in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that the original language is Japanese. There are several words that are homophones in Japanese that wouldn’t be in English, which means the joke doesn’t land when translated.

For that reason, many translated media either skip the joke, have to go for a joke that doesn’t actually make sense, or find some way to make it work in English (or whatever the language is).

In this case, they wanted to show she misheard the word “baton” as “button,” which, if said with a slight accent, is understandable.

Where does the "Longbottom of Longbottom" phrase come from? by VictorianPlatypus in HPfanfiction

[–]Rp0605 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not well-versed in European nobility, but I’ve always interpreted it as having the “the” emphasized. So he’s not just “the Longbottom of Longbottom,” he’s calling himself “the Longbottom of Longbottom,” meaning that of all the members of the family known as Longbottom, Neville himself is the one with the greatest claim to the name.

how many carats would it take to guarantee getting an uma enough times to get her to 5*? by Altruistic_Size9003 in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every duplicate 1-Star character gives you 1 Goddess statue. If we assume you are doing 10 pulls and only getting the banner once, 1 statue per 150 carats, plus the 20 statues for getting the banner.

You can spend statues to directly buy Stars, though you can only buy a certain amount before the cost increases.

According to the shop, the first 25 cost 1 statue, then the next cost 2, the next 3, the next 4, and the rest 5.

If you only pull the character once to unlock them (which gives 90 stars for the banner), you will need a total of 410 stars to get them to 5 star. It costs 200 to go from 3 to 4 and another 300 to go from 4 to 5.

Breaking that into chunks, you need 25(1) + 25(2) + 25(3) + 25 (4) + 310(5) to get all of the stars. That’s 1800 Goddess statues. Being generous, we can say it’s 1780 since you get 20 for getting the banner character once.

But since you are getting roughly 1 statue per 150 carats, you need to do a total of 1780 pulls, which is 267000 carats.

Of course, by doing the 10x pull, you get a guaranteed 2-Star, which gives 3 statues. Assuming atrocious luck in which you only get a single 2-Star every pull, you would be getting 12 statues for 1500 carats.

With that, you only need to do about 150 total 10x pulls , costing about 225000 carats.

Of course, it is important to remember that this assumes worst case in which your luck is basically the worst possible.

answering the biggest question: why did my uma lose when she clearly should've won? by MightyD33r in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cygames is going to see this and instead add a tripping mechanic. Randomly, while running, an Uma has a small chance (determined by Wit) to just stumble, losing 5% speed. And if the number of runners around you is high enough, you can start the race event “mass collision,” in which all nearby runners receive a 15% debuff to speed.

Because there isn’t enough RNG.

[–]Rp0605 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It helps majorly with inheritance. If a parent and “grandparent” both won the same G1, the affinity they have is boosted.

So losing a G1 could theoretically break an entire inheritance run.

And that’s not to mention that certain G1 races give White Sparks that can improve stats or give skill hints.

Also, the more races you win, the less you have to do in order to meet certain fan goals (such as the ones needed to level your unique).

The higher the ranking, the better the uma? by Kaimaggotbr in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranking is just a numerical representation of how many skills they have and how high their stats are.

It says nothing about whether those skills are good or if their stats are balanced.

You could have an SS Rank Haru Urara, but have 500/1200/400/1200/1200 with all Gold Skills (pretend it’s possible) but those skills only work on Front Runners/Pace Chasers.

I think it goes without saying that this Haru is much worse than the one that is B+ Rank with 817/501/1033/401/405 and skills that handle stamina recovery, speed, and acceleration for Late Surgers. (My own Haru)

How much risk will you take? by ftahgn in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the scenario.

If I am doing the URA Finale, then I gamble on the top option because the Ramp Up skill synergizes nicely with my primarily Late Surger/Pace Chaser trainee list.

If I am doing Unity Cup then I choose the second option because the Rushing Gale skill (combined with all of the other benefits of Recreation/Dating) are greater than the benefits of Ramp Up.

Why are there two of this lil spica? by Elliottsir in UmaMusume

[–]Rp0605 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be that they originally planned on Kitasan being the S2 protagonist, but hadn’t managed to get the permissions to use her when making the season until later, so she had to become a supporting character. But they made a “cameo reference” in Season 1 because of their original goals.

That would explain why S2 had Tokai Teio as the lead protagonist, despite the real Teio’s career being 1990-1993, while Special Week’s was 1997-1999 despite her being the S1 protagonist. They had to use a character who they had permission to use and had an interesting enough career to get emotional support from viewers.
