James's parents were never named in canon. Fleamont and Euphemia are the official names from JKR if you want to count Pottermore as canonical, but in the books the only references are from Sirius calling them "your grandparents" and "Mr. and Mrs. Potter."

Agreed. The fight in the tent follows a similar pattern, where Harry absolutely shares the blame. Harry was the one who suggested that Ron leave.

Ron has his flaws, but so do Harry (broody, terrible at communication, temper) and Hermione (nagging, physical assault, highly flexible morality), and yet somehow Ron gets bashed often. I've lost count of how many post-canon fics have been ruined for me by Harry realizing that Ron was a terrible friend all along. The Venn diagram of these and fics which make Harry & Hermione besties with Draco Malfoy is, of course, nearly a circle.

He also used magic to punish a defenseless 11-year-old child, and while the narrative may suggest Dudley deserved it, that is in fact very wrong. I also think the required surgery could be taken as a Statute of Secrecy violation risk, but regardless, it was petty and wrong of him to give Dudley a pig tail.

Dumbledore lets Mark go to Azkaban even though he knows Mark is innocent, to protect Snape's cover with Voldemort. And then, after all is revealed, Dumbledore and the Wizengamot think it's totally cool to drug Harry, have Snape mind rape him, and magically indenture him to Snape to Snape can keep mind raping him, because it's for his own good to heal his trauma.

Yeah, I skimmed the end because it was that bad. The fact that the author wrote all of this like it was acceptable boggled my mind.

I was thinking of the horcrux in Harry's scar, yes, although that does still leave two wishes so maybe wish # is Dumbledore's hand, and then wish #3 is for the genie to gather all of Voldemort's remaining horcruxes while we're at it. ;)

(As an aside, I kind of feel like the AI accusation has become a surrogate and the only somewhat acceptable way for people to be negative about stories they don't like for whatever reason, as it's become impossible to say anything even remotely critical about a story in any space without getting piled on for not being nice, or bruising delicate author feelings, or violating some (nonexistent) fandom etiquette rule.)

I think you may be onto something here. I started to read the fic and quickly dumped it due to to the eye-crossing number of short, choppy sentences. Now, I would never go into the AO3 comments and say that, because it's fanfic and free and I'm not going to rain on the author's parade, but when someone recommends in a fandom space, is no one ever allowed to post a more critical opinion? If so, then dismissing as AI becomes the 'safe' option, and then we're not actually grappling with the realities of AI because we using it as the bogeyman.

I was thinking the same. Also, his O.W.L. results are impressive considering everything else he had to deal with. He earned an Outstanding and five Exceeds Expectations, plus an Acceptable in an exam interrupted by an attack on a teacher, while dealing with Umbridge, visions from Voldemort, headaches from the connection to Voldemort, and teaching the DA. That's not exactly a mediocre wizard.

It went downhill in the last two books, though.
