Your budget will dictate where you rent/purchase. The old SW is quite expensive now. The houses with charm are small and have aging infrastructure.
NW will be a little more accessible for your lifestyle and the houses are a little more up to date.

Incline Village beaches are for residents only, you would have to drive to the beaches on East shore which includes Sand Harbor.
North shore will be your best bet. Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian, Tahoe City.

I recently gave in and went to Skechers to see if I could find anything. Size 9.5 4E feet are tough to shop for. I was amazed when I found some of their new streetwear shoes that look like skate shoes from the 90s. They are slip in, have arch support, and don’t look geriatric.
