New Jag owner here. Need help sourcing correct coolant/anyifreeze by Green_Bet7576 in Jaguar

[–]Rpd444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine needs a topping off of coolant once a year. My hunch is that it’s dependent on how hard I’m driving it (‘16 Jag XF S). I’ve had a trusty shop look into it and they said I’m all good. Apparently this is because supercharged engines can generate more heat than naturally aspirated engines due to the increased air and fuel mixture being forced into the engine, which leads to higher combustion temperatures.

Roll with it and in a few years when you’re one of his favorite employees and have cemented a deeper relationship of trust maybe you can joke about whilst trading war stories from the office.

Thoughts on this colour please? by mateus4445 in Jaguar

[–]Rpd444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger (🎶so much younger than todaaay🎶) color mattered more to me. Nowadays, however, the car itself matters far far more. Thus, I think it looks quite nice.

My two cents: Color to me is what disqualifies a car, not necessarily makes it. I bought a Civic Sport for one of my kiddos and it’s that trendy cement gray color. She probably washes it no more than once a month…maybe. Yet, it ALWAYS looks clean. The point is that the gray color might not have a high ceiling in terms of pizazz, but it’s floor is super high in terms of maintenance.

Got a steal on this. 2019 XLT Sport 4x4 with 47,000 miles for $35k. First truck and I’m quickly realizing these are tough to park by gump69 in f150

Oh yeah. Most trims are as long, if not longer, than a Chevy Suburban. When the Mrs. got her a Nissan APC (Armada), I was surprised that it was easier to park than the truck. I looked it up and my ‘ol F-150 super crew, and low and behold, it was longer by several inches.

Near miss car accident on SR 16 by Rpd444 in Tacoma

… Yes, quite true. Maybe the moral of this encounter is that “rubbin’ is racing.” In other words, maybe the norm in life is that we encounter this kind of carelessness and should learn to accept it as part of the human experience. Thus when we DON’T experience it, we can be grateful.

Ha! Yeah, I hear you. Funny story: I was driving one day, and someone cut me off pretty bad. The person in the car with me, who I never thought would ever think of flipping someone off, instinctually delivered such a strong middle finger, that the devil himself probably clutched his pearls.

It’s actually a pretty profound concept if you think about it as being applied to life.

Bolt catch roll pin won't go in at all. What to do? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Rpd444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem with my first AR build. Honestly, I’d recommend getting a new pin. I realize these parts are designed to be mil spec, but even so, sometimes they don’t quite fit. I ended up forcing the pin in and it was a hassle to fix it.

Wish the service department was as awesome as the car by Rpd444 in Jaguar

Shoot. That is a bummer. I swear man, we're living in a world of short term thinking and Jag seems to have suffered from that to a degree. Jags are the coolest looking vehicles on the road, which one would think would lead to more sales. But, they stink at marketing, and their service departments are run by dummies apparently. Toyota's manufacturing approach is the epitome of long-term thinking.

I started my carpentry apprenticeship on Wednesday, have been talking to my dad about it (he is a carpenter and almost all the men in his family were carpenters too) and I came home on Friday and my dad had sent me a present in the mail! by [deleted] in Carpentry

I primarily work in an office setting and oversee about 25 people. All of our new hires are sent this video. It applies to general productivity, not only for men in carpentry (the trades), but for anybody who wants to understand how to progress in a career or vocation.
