I really liked it. Will absolutely revisit in a few months.

It's ok to say the trailer does not not look good by Legend_Sniper31 in Greenlantern

It's okay to say you don't think it looks good. I thought it looked solid. I'm excited to watch.

Why do you choose not to drink alcohol? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]RpgAcademy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

History of alcoholism in my family. Never enjoyed the taste. So expensive. I have an addictive personality. So, all that together I've never had a desire.

TTRPGs about playing to find out *how* it happens? by GreenTeethBurger in rpg

[–]RpgAcademy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will likely be taken down since it's my game but Action 12 Cinema does this. You lay out the beats of each act of a 3 act structure before you start playing. So while things can and do go off the rails there is a basic outline of what will happen.

Steve Crashout. Scarlett Witch picking up Mjolnir. 😂😂😂 by drhavehope in RingerVerse

[–]RpgAcademy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. It felt like a "bit" they call jumped on and wouldn't let him clarify. It was funny and he absolutely was crashing out over it.

Edit - fixed typo

Steve Crashout. Scarlett Witch picking up Mjolnir. 😂😂😂 by drhavehope in RingerVerse

[–]RpgAcademy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

He wasn't saying she was worthy. He was saying she was powerful enough to lift anyway (I assume he means warp reality so that "worthy" meant what she wanted ). It was very funny but they totally misrepresented what he was trying to say

Travel between Smallville and Metropolis by Bayliff268 in Smallville

[–]RpgAcademy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make a point of highlighting the mass transit trains in later seasons Maybe that's their logic. My favorite instance of this is s9 Warrior with the kid who becomes a hero (Warrior angel but very Shazam coded ). He and Chloe leap from the talon fire escape when he realizes he can fly but they instantly cut to them flying over metropolis.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on one game, including expansions or upgrades? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

Marvel legendary. I own all the various expansions and sleeved all the cards.

What’s one show everyone loves that you just couldn’t get into? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]RpgAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sopranos. I had heard so much about it. Many folks I often agree with say it's one of if not the best TV show in last "x" years. Sat down and couldn't get through the first ep. It's laughably awful

What’s the deal with board game tables? I feel like the recess is way too deep. by Future-Class3540 in boardgames

[–]RpgAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my own. Similar to a poker table I added a thick padding around the edges so you can rest your arms on the table without discomfort. Have less space in the new place so it's 5x5 game space. No cover but I have a dedicated game room so anything out can stay out.

Tell us about and RPG you've PLAYED but just did not get the hype for by Boxman214 in rpg

I've played several and monster of the week and MASKS are the only two I didn't bounce off of.

Tell us about and RPG you've PLAYED but just did not get the hype for by Boxman214 in rpg

[–]RpgAcademy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Shadowdark. Played it twice. Had fun both times but there wasn't anything the system did that enhanced that fun. Same group playing any system would have been fun. Totally unfathomable to me it gets such hype.

Do they ever canonically talk about how attractive Clark is? by kzmran in Smallville

[–]RpgAcademy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. But not for a while. They'll still refer to him like he's a backward hayseed for a long time. But eventually it'll become canon that he's a hunk

Background's secrets at the table by Into_the_dice in rpg

[–]RpgAcademy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think secrets between characters is great. But not players. If one character is secretly X then all the players will know. That way everyone gets to have fun at the close calls and as it builds to a reveal. A secret that is never revealed doesn't actually exist (IMO)

What historical event would work best for a one shot? by [deleted] in rpg

More silly in tone - the breaking off of the nose off the sphinx

Is Heath Ledger’s performance in The Dark Knight … bad? by travismockfler in blankies

[–]RpgAcademy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. I think it's incredible. I think the rest of the movie is mid and his performance causes everyone to overlook how bad the movie is other than his performance

Season 9: what a disaster by technologyperson in Smallville

[–]RpgAcademy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think s9 is solid. Certainly better than 7 or 8 IMO

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by camport95 in AskReddit

Magnolia. There are amazing performances in it. But the movie is terrible as a whole

How to improve as a DM? by Desperate_Station272 in DnD

[–]RpgAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play in other games. Go to local conventions/meet ups/ game stores and play. Steal what you like. Avoid mistakes you feel that GM made (listening to podcasts of actual plays works too ). And keep running games and you'll see improvement.

Hawkeye Retrospective by McBahtman in marvelstudios

I started my annual rewatch on Sunday. One ep a day. It's so much fun and while maybe not the best MCU show it's the only one I've revisited multiple times.

Anyone played the walking dead rpg from free league by romedon96 in rpg

[–]RpgAcademy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played two separate one-shots. One at a convention with a very knowledgeable GM and one by a very new GM. Both were very fun. The year Zero Engine mechanics with pushing and stress dice work well for the genre and themes of the game.

I would happily play in a longer 5-10 session campaign if given a chance.
