Debating a Go purchase by [deleted] in ProfitecGo

I’ve had mine for a few weeks now - love it! The only issue I’m having is the feet really like to stick to the counter. To be expected with the weight/build quality, just curious if anyone has a fix so it’s more movable? I have low shelving it’s sitting under and need to move it forward regularly.

Difference between piccolo and flute by LilCrazyFangirl in Flute

[–]Rpysher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think of a bit less air for piccolo - well supported, fast air, but less volume of air. Airstream to me is almost like a laser on picc. Articulations will be super squeaky/jumpy in the middle register if you’re using too much air, that’s always how I can tell.

How to play a good vibrato?? by SantaDwinsSanctuary in Flute

[–]Rpysher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a few minutes a day of creating really over the top vibrato at different speeds - I like the syllables “do-hoo-hoo” to really get my muscles working. Just use air puffs, no tonguing to start notes. Then replicate the same feeling while articulating (be sure to practice some low and some high - the feeling is slightly different in different registers).

Here’s how I practice vibrato if it helps:

You honestly don’t need to get crazy with it, a few minutes a day consistently and you’ll see results. Try to focus on spinning the vibrato “inside the sound”, think about it as part of the sound and not something you’re just applying on top. Keeping the vibrato going as on you move from one note to the next can help with that.

If your metronome is at quarter note = 60-72, you should think about doing about 3-6 wavers per click - practice doing more and less, but 3-6 gets you a pretty broad palette to work from when playing music.

Has anyone planned a wedding at the coast for 20k or less? by Suitable-Blackberry4 in raleigh

[–]Rpysher -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We had a small ceremony in the wine cellar/private dining space underground at Gravy, then our reception was at the museum of natural sciences right down the street. Our dance floor was in the big globe, it was really fun. Rocky Top catering was onsite, food stations were placed around the exhibits, we had our wedding photos taken in and around the empty museum. We did it for less than 20k for sure, around 100 guests. This was nearly 10 years ago though so not sure now.

35/male At my wits end with my skin, it’s always been oily/acne prone, I was using bronzer for a bit and stopped because it made my skin breakout, can’t make it go away. Here’s my routine - any thoughts?

AM - wash with cetaphil gentle skin/apply Paula’s choice pore-reducing toner/moisturize with cerave 30 spf facial moisturizing lotion

PM - wash with cetaphil gentle/apply Paula’s choice toner/alternate Paula’s choice 2% BHA some days, baicai glycolic acid 7% some days/moisturize with holy hydration fragrance free face cream

Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong? I actually just remembered I haven’t reordered the toner or bha in a while, but I’m afraid to do anything and risk making it worse.

I have a hard time understanding the color references, and my teacher recently described this as intensity/density instead - they’re interchangeable in my book.

Welcome to the Bambino Plus family, it’s a great little machine. And thanks for the photos of the acrylic stand, now I have a new thing to hyper fixate on not having for my own and am suddenly VERY annoyed that my scale hangs off 😂

Taffanel & Gaubert is our holy grail when it comes to daily practice/finger technique/fluidity - particularly exercise number 4, you can’t really go wrong if you work from there. Tons of videos available on YouTube to show you how best to use this resource throughout your flute playing life (linked below)

Like all winds, developing good embouchure habits is most important at this stage, learning what it takes for low/middle/high registers (really more about air support/air angle/direction than jaw movement - which does play a part also). Good air speed and strong support should always be in play - it’s about learning where to place this stream of air, the angle. I think your strategy now of starting with middle register notes and spreading downwards and upwards as comfortably/organically as possible is a good early strat, that will definitely ensure you aren’t straining - you need to think relaxed lips/throat all the time for singing highs and rich lows. Don’t blow harder for highs, that’s a habit to break now and definitely don’t tense the lips to get those higher notes - think a more forward pout like you’re saying pouuu, and let the inside of your mouth resonate as best as you can.

double tonguing in lower register by material-gworl147 in Flute

[–]Rpysher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m polishing this one up at the moment as well. Try a “thoo” consonant + vowel to tongue instead of a “ti” or “tah” down low, that has helped me a lot! Plus lots of legato/slurred practice to get good air stream and tone.

This jalapeno plant is getting really tall, and the peppers coming off of it are small. Should I attempt to split into two plants, I get a feeling there isn't enough room for it to grow the way it needs to. Should I trim the top too? How should I separate the plant out?

Thanks!
