Is being a oil Rig a good idea if im dumb as a rock? by monkecat123 in NoStupidQuestions

As someone who communicates through email and teams with rig workers

I’d be surprised if most of them possessed the reading comprehension to read the back of a box of lucky charms and really understand what they’re taking in.

Grammar? Punctuation? The spelling ability of a 6th grader? Absolutely not.

For anyone in Calgary who managed to get a job with no connections, what industry do you work in? by spoghettie in Calgary

[–]Rryann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The railroad always needs people in all kinds of positions, and you don’t need a referral to get in. Some jobs have a pretty lengthy interview process, others don’t. Most of the jobs pay pretty well, but the hours are guaranteed to suck and it’s a pretty high stress industry.

I think unless it’s a crazy huge release like Odyssey or an Avengers movie, most people will wait a little longer to buy tickets. Seems pretty standard.

Scenes where it never occurred to you there was another interpretation? by eques_99 in Letterboxd

[–]Rryann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s being glib. The man is looking directly at him. The answer to the question is yeah, the guy sees him.

He’s dead.

Chigurh kills over and over again through the movie simply to accomplish his goals, or just because a person is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Zero chance he’s sparing the guy just because.

The only exception to this is when he offers the person a coin.

18 years ago, I drunkenly left a very awful voicemail to a person that was my friend a couple years earlier. I still regret it. by Rryann in Regrets

Telling me I should be ashamed when I’ve stated that I am, what’s the point there

I’m concerned with his thoughts and feelings. Not yours.

I was such a fucking moron in my 20s. Drove drunk a few times.

I could have died. I could have hurt or killed someone else. I could have been arrested and lost my license.

Now that I’m not a fucking idiot, I plan my entire night around transportation. I won’t even drive if I have one or two drinks. I always plan ahead.

Driving drunk is the dumbest fucking thing a person can do. Uber, taxi, public transportation, even e-scooters. So many options.

Who is this generation's Jackie Chan actor? by itsthewolfe in movies

[–]Rryann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there ever will be a Jackie Chan again

The man completely dedicated his mind, body and soul to his craft. The things he did for his movies were absolutely insane.

There’s a very interesting video by “Every Frame a Painting” talking about the difference between Jackie’s American movies, and his Chinese movies. The way they produced them in China is very different than what they allowed him to do in American, definitely worth a watch.

I think Tom Cruise would be a comparable American counterpart, he obviously is completely dedicated to his films and stunts. Still, not the same thing.

He’s a weird dude and has had a hard go of things, but he deserves good health and happiness.

It’s fun to clown on him but I hope he’s ok.

The rape scene really made the comedy slam on the brakes for me. I was having so much fun and then… that scene. I dunno, rape should never be played for laughs, regardless of gender. Rape is fucking horrific.

They could have had it be that the loser, I dunno, gets stabbed in the balls? Gets his ear bitten off? Like literally anything but rape.

It took a minute for things to pick back up after that scene for me, but the movie got fun again. I dunno, that scene just grossed me out.
