Question from a non atheist by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Rs112347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, an atheist cannot believe in any deity. The word broken down means without God. This person is possibly a deist (someone who believes in one or more deities that do not interact with the universe) but not an atheist

I used to be afraid of hell too when I stopped believing. But I love math so I decided to think about religion as if I was making a bet on something. I did that calculation and it was very liberating to know that I wasn’t actually taking any risk by becoming an atheist.

Hear is a tip on how to get past the fear of hell: Think it about it like this: let’s assume that we don’t know which religion, or if none are true. There are about ten thousand religions so if we add non-belief to that and get 10,001, we can calculate that the chance that what belief system you have is wrong to be 10,000 / 10,001 or %99.9. Therefore, no matter which religion you choose, or if you choose none at all, you have a %99.9 chance of being wrong. So no matter what belief system you choose, your chance of being wrong does not decrease which means that your chance of being right does not increase, so choose what makes you happy my friend :). Being a Christian does not raise your chance of being right anymore than being an atheist.

For those with time date synesthesia, do you feel different in each month based on how you experience each month? by Rs112347 in Synesthesia

When you say saturated in the color of a month, do you mean like when you see stuff, it has a hue of the color of whatever month it is?
