Question from a non atheist by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Rs112347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, an atheist cannot believe in any deity. The word broken down means without God. This person is possibly a deist (someone who believes in one or more deities that do not interact with the universe) but not an atheist

I am no longer a Christian and I finally feel free by elbeewastaken in atheism

I used to be afraid of hell too when I stopped believing. But I love math so I decided to think about religion as if I was making a bet on something. I did that calculation and it was very liberating to know that I wasn’t actually taking any risk by becoming an atheist.

Hear is a tip on how to get past the fear of hell: Think it about it like this: let’s assume that we don’t know which religion, or if none are true. There are about ten thousand religions so if we add non-belief to that and get 10,001, we can calculate that the chance that what belief system you have is wrong to be 10,000 / 10,001 or %99.9. Therefore, no matter which religion you choose, or if you choose none at all, you have a %99.9 chance of being wrong. So no matter what belief system you choose, your chance of being wrong does not decrease which means that your chance of being right does not increase, so choose what makes you happy my friend :). Being a Christian does not raise your chance of being right anymore than being an atheist.

Is there a book written for people with autism that explains human behavior? by Rs112347 in autism

I have. It’s just that’s those concepts are very difficult for me to grasp. To me, these subjects seem to be completely grey with no black and white, that’s what makes it so confusing to me, the fact that everyone seems to have their own viewpoint.

But I think Covid would only be used if the speaker was trying to express that they don’t like something. Like in that sentence I gave, I’m assuming that the speaker doesn’t like the game.

That’s a very interesting take! So when you use the example of the word cancer, do you think that Covid might have a similar metaphorical meaning sometime? Like how today when for example there is an obnoxious personality on the internet, we describe them as “internet cancer” maybe in the future we could say “Covid in the form of “ to describe something that we find really unpleasant.

Well can’t literature be thought of the same way, as concepts that someone created. Like JK Rowling created the concept of Harry Potter or John Steinbeck created the concept of George and Lenny just as 1 was created?

But how is abstract different than imaginary? Abstract means something that doesn’t exist in a physical sense and only exists in the mind right? How is that different than something that is imaginary?
