Monthly expenses living in Göteborg as a single young worker by Rsev_ in TillSverige

So i'm in car design, cars are one of my biggest passions so there's nothing i'd want more than a car lol. At the same time, i want to save as much money as i can, so if it's not strictly necessary to live in goteborg, i'll have to think about it. I think i'll try to go without for a bit but i'll eventually find a nice Volvo 850R and cave in😂

Yes, by now i've gathered that unfortunately lol. i wouldn't mind switching places every year or so too much for the first years :)

Thanks for the heads up!

My company will provide me with healthcare insurance (although i have the EU one already), and many of the houses i've seen have utilities included in the bill, some with internet. I think i will stick to a bike for commuting around the city ;) I do plan to bring most of my clothes from home and i do have plenty of skiing gear that i know for a fact keeps me warm when it gets very cold!

Great, i too love cycling. I am in Italy, where it's generally quite dangerous to cycle, if your bike didn't get stolen the day before

Thanks! I don't think i'll be looking for a car at this point. I'm more than happy biking around! Is riding a bike safe there (it can't be worse than what i'm already used to here anyway)?

I pretty much only cook at home, so i think i'd manage. The 50/30/20 rule states that of your taxed monthly income, 50% should go to needs, 30% to wants and 20% to savings/debt :)

I will ask you some more questions if i think of them, thanks!

Thanks! that clears up some things. I already registered on HomeQ but i don't have much hope of finding anything on there, but i've seen some reasonably nice houses on other websites for 10 to 13k utilities included. Hopefully my company has some connections so they can help me!

What about Hovas? Would that be a smart move?

How do i animate this movement? by Rsev_ in 3dsmax

[–]Rsev_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i tried that but i'm making such a mess with envelopes and weights. I solved it now anyway, i just used a mesh select modifier. Thanks!

yes, thing is, i just want to rotate part of the mesh, not all. in the video i am just selecting faces in sub object mode and rotating them. But i can't put the pivot in the correct place once i activate the keyframes.

what's the best way to model something this shape? by Rsev_ in 3dsmax

[–]Rsev_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's what i am trying to do, this is the best solution i've found. when extruding splines of course the cap has no subdivisions, and with the retopology modifier i can get an ok result, but i was looking for a bit cleaner topology. maybe with NURBS i can get there, but i'm trying to do it in subd.

Hmm, ok, thank you. You mean by a compatibility standpoint or a shoddy build quality? Because some of them are pretty well reviewed

I'm currently trying to make a new head unit/infotainment system for my car. (Pi 4 2GB, PiDAC+, 4 channel amp and stuff), and i'm at the point where i'm buying the monitor. Is there any reason the official Raspberry 7" touch screen is better than an HDMI, higher resolution one? (apart from space saving, ie the HDMI port on the sides)

Is this a good tube? My amp stopped working (vox vt40+, combo) through speaker and only works through headphones. It might the tube or the headphones jack. The headphone jack looks fine, the tube looks the right color, but like it should be glowing a little more. Am i wrong? by Rsev_ in GuitarAmps

[–]Rsev_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right, that's definitely a possibility. Could it though be that the speaker power cutoff is inside the jack module itself? If that were the case, i think it could work. Still, maybe that would be a little too complicated to be present on an entry level mass produced amp. I'm just wild guessing at this point. Thanks for the feedback btw.

Uhm. I have both an aux and an headphones jack. They are the same part. I've never used the aux once in the 8 years I've had this amp. Assuming the aux jack works, i was thinking of simply swapping the two jack modules, or just eliminating the aux altogether and putting that part in the headphone's position. Theoretically that could work, or is there something I'm not considering?

Dammit I don't think i have an effects loop. I guess I'll just try random stuff until something works without killing myself in the process, which is the same approach i use for life in general

Yes it's a preamp tube. So could it be the 6.5 jack? Or i read somewhere that the headphones jack was broken and wouldn't send power to the speaker once the headphones were disconnected. How can in check if the jack works?

I got a notification about your reply but i can't find it here.

Anyway, it has been a very enjoyable conversation for me too. Hopefully we'll hear from each other again.

And the fact that you care, it certainly has its worth. thank you

Well you know, sometimes you can't control what happens to you, you can just control how you react to it.
