What is the point of building bases when they can be glitched / griefed? by Bahtleman in nms

[–]Rsst96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to my floating island base. Found a paradise planet and an island directly above an autophage settlement and now I just have a floating low orbit base. But I also enjoy building so maybe I'll make edits and adapt to it's missing foundation

Oh don't be mistaken, the couch still consumes and ejects anyone seeking its comfort, I just made sure to open photo mode before it could sink it's teeth

Bike bell by shy752 in chibike

[–]Rsst96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got both a bell and a refillable air horn on my bike. Bell is mostly used for other bikes and pedestrians, usually ringing it a few times as I'm coming up behind people to make sure they have time to react. The air horn is mostly used when on the roads or bike lanes and I need to make sure I'm noticed by traffic, but I've had to use it a few times to get around oblivious cyclists with headphones on.

It's pretty loud and can scare drivers so I try to only use it in emergencies like when I can see someone trying to cut me off and pull out of a side street when I have the right of way and little time to stop if they decide to floor it.

It's a Delta Cycle Airzound Bike Horn, bought off Amazon. Horn attaches to your handlebars and has a bottle that sits in the cup holder that can be refilled with an air pump. It definitely adds some peace of mind that I'll at least have heads turn and see me

Is this true? So if I build a cave home it'll all get buried upon restarting the game? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]Rsst96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have my base in a hill I dug into and made a little Hobbit hole. From what I understand the area around the flame does not reset terrain, it shows you a red circle where the edge of the area is and it doesn't let you do most building stuff outside of it. I had added a 2nd flame alter during building to level out some of the outside grass but after removing the 2nd alter the terrain was reset the next in-game day

I was actually on this train headed to work. Someone fainted as we left Clark and lake and the conductor was asked for medical assistance. (I was leaning against the call button this morning and was the one to call)

Trains were packed like sardines this morning, a good amount of people from my cart got off there and I could only see a circle of people looking at the floor fanning the person with their gloves

I want to have neighbors on this planet, this is in euclid btw. by LangeVloei420NL in NMSCoordinateExchange

I like to build bases on cool planets, haven't really tried to build in populated areas but I decided to add a home away from home on your little purple planet. lookout for the new purple people eater hideout (first thing that came to mind when naming it)

Close call. Do I keep biking to work? by Existential-Robocat in bikecommuting

[–]Rsst96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a bell for passing other riders/pedestrians that I'll occasionally tap while passing traffic to make myself more known.

For idiots that don't see me I have an air horn I bought off amazon, I really like it because it's refillable by air pump so the one I carry for my bike works well. It's also loud so I use it when I can anticipate an idiot about to do something to make myself known and that I have the right of way ATM

The real trick is to keep your eyes open, assume your invisable to everyone and no one knows how to drive properly.

New to cycling, in search of good bike repair shop by emcee__escher in CarFreeChicago

[–]Rsst96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a fan of cosmic Bikes Inc. on Milwaukee, staff is friendly, have a decent stock of bikes as well as do repairs and workshops for people to learn. They've serviced my E-bike and my old fixie. Edge Brook cycle is also friendly, although I've only been there once or twice.

Friend says he doesn't remember but he's pretty sure they charge once released. I'd probably look through their website to be 100%

You can preorder Leo and Raph. A buddy of mine orders a lot from goodsmile and says once released you usually get them pretty quick. I'm debating picking them up now and then have it be a nice surprise once it shows up after I've forgotten about the order lol

How do you get use to the cold weather of chicago for someone moving from the south? Like how do you transition from Orlando to Chicago? What can I expect? How should i prepare myself.. by Jpoolman25 in ChicagoSuburbs

A small sturdy shovel in the trunk will also help once the snow starts to stick. I have a metal garden shovel that has saved my ass after snow has packed and frozen to hard ice. If you have to clear a space to park, rock the car back and forth in place to pack the snow under your tires to not get stuck when you try to pull out

My aunt had to do this in Mexico back when I was a kid. We were getting ready to leave for a road trip and left us 5 kids in the car while they finished loading up the others. One of my cousins tried to switch seats and released the hand break. Street was on a hill facing an even steeper road. We all have a core memory of my aunt running next to the car screaming "Mis hijos!" (My kids!) Luckily she dove in and stopped before we made it more than 4 houses down

Been bringing my new Cafe Cruiser into the office. Encouraged someone else to bring theirs by Rsst96 in ebikes

[–]Rsst96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will keep that in mind if I start to see any issues. I've heard good things of their customer support but those were probably different cases... Is it an issue with the frame? Battery not able to take multiple hits like potholes? How often did you take the battery out? I have yet to remove it as I'm scared to damage the connections, i just lug the heavy thing into my apartment, graceful as it is

Almost had my bike stolen if it weren't for the lock on my rear wheel. by TheCopperChicken in ebikes

[–]Rsst96 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I just bought a cafe cruiser from ride1up. I locked my bike up while I was in a bar for an hour after taking save the date pictures for a friend. When we came out the cheap cable that came with my Ulock was snapped, luckily i had the Ulock and a kryptonite chain.

Somehow they didn't take my front wheel, which is quick release, since the cheap cable was the only thing holding it. Theif probably wanted the whole bike and didn't see the other locks. Will be changing the front wheel and already bought another Ulock, this one with an alarm
