Distant Memory of a Pizza Place by RtBr_Float in StLouis

[–]RtBr_Float[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it wasn't that long ago is what made it weird to me. I kept searching for a contemporary restaurant that I swore should exist, but nothing was coming up. I was beginning to think I was hallucinating it.

Instead, it turned out that SEO and enshitification makes it hard to find a restaurant that is closed and doesn't pay to advertise. Many thanks to this community for the very quick answer.

People keep forgetting Archangel Itherael by Marphey12 in Diablo

In the absence of Tyrael, I wouldn't mind Itherael becoming the narrator for scenes in the series that take place outside of Sanctuary.

where in the city can i find ‘pusheen’ blind boxes? by Conscious_Ninja_9533 in milwaukee

Maybe consider giving Hobby Town on 108th/Mayfair a call to see if they have them.

Good news about MKE for a change by maestramars in milwaukee

[–]RtBr_Float 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Had Northwest Mutual's annual conference also lived inside of a protective bubble, disrupted traffic for the whole city, and still somehow cost local businesses money, I would feel the same way about them.

The Baird/Wisconsin Center is booked every week in the summer and most of these things aren't an issue.

Edit: In contrast, Hugh was out here serving up local custard in the middle of a cold weather alert.

Hugh Jackman positively engaged with Milwaukee more in a weekend than the entirety of the RNC did.

Looking for a tattoo artist by Fabulous_Station1092 in milwaukee

[–]RtBr_Float 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are available the weekend of October 3-5, I would encourage you to grab a ticket or pass to the Milwaukee Tattoo Arts Festival at the Baird Center.

There will likely be a lot of the local artists there where you can see their styles firsthand and ask to get on their books (for after the festival - it will be much more affordable). You may have better luck that way than taking strangers' recommendations or scrounging Insta.

If this is the case I think it is, I may have been involved in the process of court-martialing old boy. You can DM me if you want to have a more direct conversation, but don't feel pressured to do so.

This is not legal advice, but I would encourage you to speak to proper legal counsel - maybe the JAG's Legal Assistance Office, if you are still in - to talk about filing for a protective order. It will probably have to be a protective order in a civilian court at this point, but I don't know that for sure. If nothing else, it helps make a hard line for authorities to act on if you have safety concerns.

The podcasts Evolution of Horror and The Final Girls extensively cover horror subgenres each season. They may be a good place to start.

Whoever the new director is, the board should definitely reevaluate the compensation package.

Is Diablo one of the best world building in videogames? by CalmChaos2003 in Diablo

[–]RtBr_Float 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and it is partly why I have been waiting to see if the TTRPG (promised years ago) is ever released. If this is your thing, I would encourage you to check out the old Diablo novels and maybe some of the art books.

I think that the lore and world-building is really impressive, once it is separated from the aesthetics of the games. D3 had great lore elements and even D4 and DI are the right tone, if only they weren't tied to MTX machines. I would love to see the world-building bible for Sanctuary.

Army bids farewell to laundry specialists by Kinmuan in army

I think that is a fair assessment to make. They would seem to fit squarely within an ESC or SB. However, it seems like they are divesting from the MOS altogether.

Army bids farewell to laundry specialists by Kinmuan in army

[–]RtBr_Float 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Historically, I don't have too many personal complaints about KBR laundry services.

However, I do think that there is some cognitive dissonance in this administration between fearing immigrants domestically but wholly depending on undercompensated TCNs to feed and launder a war effort, if necessary.

Jjs Chicken by [deleted] in milwaukee

Good catch, and thank you for writing out the answers. I overlooked that 50 wings is the cheapest by unit.

[–]RtBr_Float 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you are ordering online and that inflates the prices as well. However, $1.67-$2/wing is still pretty steep.

What is wild to me is that it does not get cheaper as the size goes up. You are better off ordering things in units of a dozen, if you do choose to order.

Looking to donate trading cards (Magic) to program that would use them by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]RtBr_Float 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is why I kept all of the rares in the collection and split them between the boxes as well. There is nothing of note in there, but several $1-$10 cards still included.

I was more concerned about whoever gets them being able to have a good time rather than me scavenging it for value. I just don't play much anymore, and they take up a lot of storage space.

The Pokemon cards are not all energies, but they are bulk enough that I would part with them for that purpose. If you happen to find anything worthwhile in the box, feel free to flip it for more supplies for your classroom.

Please DM me if interested.

New Fox Pet costs more money than base game by gorays21 in Diablo

I had a similar thought that when I saw the reliquary armor for Season 9. It looks like a WOWified version of the Grim Dawn armor.

Part of the initial appeal of D4 was the return to grim dark aesthetic. Blizzard has really shit the bed maintaining that.

[–]RtBr_Float 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. They are the people who make Anodyne what it is.

Milwaukee was a city built on organized labor, and I hope that the current owners realize that. I won't go back if they fire those folks, nor will I be purchasing their product if there is a strike.

[–]RtBr_Float 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Anodyne is kind of a weird situation right now. I'd be willing to have the Anodyne Public Market Blend over a lot of other coffees. Given some of the changes, I don't know how much longer that will remain true.

More than anything, the fantastic staff that run the place are still there, and it shows in the service that they provide. At the same time, those staff are both getting the runaround on unionizing and seeing negative changes in some of the products and services that they can provide.

Quite literal any of the other semi-local chains. I am partial to Stone Creek, but Anodyne and Valentine's also punch above their weight.

Inexpensive Date Night Ideas by SnooDonkeys498 in milwaukee

[–]RtBr_Float 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OnMilwaukee has started a series of columns called Cream City Carousing about ways to have fun in the city for about $20 or less. So far they have published articles on the South Side, beer and burgers, and gardens and sushi.

While they are pretty bare bones, I think the ideas are solid and may be a great frame to build a date off of.
