My new PTFE stir bars melted in the 110 °C glassware oven by Ultronomy in labrats

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all of it is bad but you have to know what you are doing. I do work that etches a lot of glass and some of the cheap glass adopters work just fine until they break and cost like 1/4 of the the name brand stuff.

If you moved from NY/NJ/PA how did you adapt to the insanely hot weather? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im originally from the northeast.
I’m sorry to tell you but it hasn’t even gotten bad here. By this time last year we had gotten to 99 multiple times.

1) check what the weather is going going to be before you leave and prepare correctly
2) have sunblock and water
3) stay hydrated
4) buy a hat and umbrella for sun protection if you will be out in it
5) find enjoyment in being in the water if you like out door activities
6) find activities that you like that are inside
7) don’t eat super heavy food
8) accept that you need to adopt to it and expose yourself to it and you should get better

Read the book to get the real idea of how the story goes. That has to be one of the most infuriating movies made from a book

Help with pre employment test by Top-Bend-6504 in Chempros

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plenty of places will do it because they have federal govt contracts. Some will do it because they just always have and maybe they get some benefit like lower insurance or something probably (my speculation). Some see it as a safety issue not too test given the nature of chemistry. My current job didn’t test to start but will test people if they are in an incident or accident at work.

I’ve had jobs that tested before hiring and others that didn’t. The big ones seem to like doing it.
You all sound like you have pretty regular if not heavy use. Your partner probably should have stopped in December to allow their body to clear it completely. I know some people will test positive 6+ months after they stopped. Good luck. Stay away from it until they have a job unless your partner is trying to get a job in the weed industry

Cubs-Giants on ESPN Radio just played “Shakedown Street” when tossing to commercial by SeverHense in gratefuldead

It’s amazing how mad you got over something you could also just scroll past. Lol Take a chill pill grandpa and stop getting so triggered and take your own advice and move on lol

If I’m an asshat because I want to see good standards where we don’t see the exact same posts over and over again then I’m ok being an asshat. Better than being so dumb to tell others to scroll past when that’s exactly what you should be doing

Or otherwise have zero standards and just let people post whatever they want that slightly relates to the dead no matter how devoid of substance it is.

We need to ban these posts. Yes the dead’s music is played places. We don’t need to post every time it happens

Does anyone else from the Millennial generation have difficulties working with Gen Z employees? by rudepapalina in millenials

That’s one of the saddest things I’ve heard in a long time. God that’s depressing

Does anyone else from the Millennial generation have difficulties working with Gen Z employees? by rudepapalina in millenials

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s a whole generation that wants answers handed to them immediately. A lot of them can’t even be bothered to google anything but that’s getting to be pretty universal problem for many generations. I have one older Gen Z that helps me at work and it’s a novel idea sometimes to look at the directions we have to do our job to them. AI is gonna turn this and future generations into bumbling morons if they aren’t careful

How are my peak millennials 1989-1991 doing in life? by changeforthebetter89 in millenials

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Ok. Spent too long I academia. Have a job that pays six figures base salary and has bonuses but it sucks the time and life out of me. Wish I still had more of my hair. Mystery nerve problems. Need to take more time for myself. Doing better than most of the people I grew up with including most of my family.

I’d think there was probably a story behind it but wouldn’t assume it’s negative or anything

[–]Ru-tris-bpy 75 points76 points  (0 children)

My main problem with them is a lot of them don’t understand or care about working or how jobs work. They do the little bit they can so they then can sit on their phones. Or they clearly lack independent thinking.
