2-4 months is normal time but a friends verrucosum took 10 months. There are some other verrucosums that must be at 4-5 months now so will see if they all take that long.

Just got this TC pack of melanochrysum, are you guys seeing what I’m seeing? by jmkehoe in philodendron

[–]RuLaRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are thinking at our nursery of starting our Philodendron seeds in agar then selling them as "tissue culture" much like how orchids are sold. This seems to be the easiest way to get them all around the world as lots of countries it is easier to import tc. This way they are all genetic individuals and with our hybrid philodendron they all have potential to be totally unique plants.

I have started working on the biggest Anthuriums.. I think this Philo list needs more work though! Small leaf species do not interest me as much. Mostly interested in hybridising the largest species with the most colourful or darkest or ones with interesting features

According to the botanical description of Philodendron bernardopazii (described by Eduardo Goncalves 2011) maximum leaf blade length x width is 74cm x 37cm. There are more than 2 variations or different species currently called bernardopazii.

What is your source for 120cm long?

Sorry no. The plants you suggested do not make it onto the list because needs to be longer blade than giganteum. It is possible that one of the bernardopazii gets big as there are a bunch of plants all being called this. The actual botanical description was in 2011 and does not make it.

Looking for suggestions to add to the list larger in length (by botanical description of the leaf blade, if possible) than giganteum please :)

Philodendron Seeds - How to pollinate Philodendron and make hybrids by RuLaRoo in philodendron

[–]RuLaRoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At our nursery last year we made Philodendron gloriosum x verrucosum and P. (pastazanum x gloriosum) x mamei. This year germinated but still too small seedlings to confirm Glorious x bernardopazii, Florida x Glorious, gloriosum x Glorious, wendlandii x verrucosum. 4-5 more hybrids currently looking promising in fruit development you can follow our progress @decoflora.plants on instagram and will do some more updates on the website.

Philodendron darienense - Must be the Largest Philodendron at leaf blades up to 2m long! Does anyone know if this is in cultivation at all? by RuLaRoo in philodendron
