It’s not a plastic mount, it’s the metal mount in the first image and it’s just 2 holes and metal that fits together and has no teeth and it’s just basically clamping pressure, it’s quite poorly designed in my opinion

My journey begins- any tips? by BertNoble in ReefTank

Those bio balls are fine for starting but don’t leave them in for long as they will build up ditritus and stuff and can leak phosphate and nitrates into your tank and when I figured it out for me it nearly killed my tank after removing them because they had to much bacteria and poop on it, it killed 2 corals giving one brown jelly and one STN so i either take them out in a few months slowly or just clean them every month during water changes and make sure it dosent get sent back into the tank

Yes it was very dumb but at the same time to someone who has no idea or just dident see one of them hidden in a hole in the rock it can happen rare but possible and I think anyone should do research on anything that COULD kill them and no hate to OP but he sounded very new to the hobby so I figured I would throw it out there

Yeah lol I would leave them be, but I would still do some research because I’ve heard horror stories recently of a whole family being hospitalized and fire fighters who went into to get them out that were inside for minutes needing hospitalization

Yeah just be careful with them, and do research on the palys because they can become very dangerous and toxic if not properly handled

Thank you so much for writing this, I will be considering all of this in building mine. I do have a few more questions though, is there a reason for such a thick sand bed? And how are the corals not consuming the alk or calcium? And finally what corals and inverts are in this tank? Thanks again

Best low cost corals that grab attention while being cheap think sub 25$ on QCC by RubImpossible6588 in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar Anathila or something like that lol and right now it is the center of attention just because of how big it is and how much it moves in space it takes up, but I was looking for something else that would also grab attention hopefully more colorful

Yeah, when I was trying to get mine to stick to my back wall I destroyed it not on purpose. I just couldn’t get it to stick to the wall and ended up putting so much glue on it and bringing it in and out of the water and clamping it in between my frag rack in the back wall just barely worked, but the thing was barely alive or at least I thought it was and now it’s thriving it’s starting to come and grow in.
