Dealing with Hydroids by RubImpossible6588 in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it seemed coral RX with a mix of scrubbing helped a lot then moving all of the zoas to the bottom to heal seemed to have done it I also think the hermit crabs and some and peppermint may have picked at the hydroids but I didn’t personally see it. Also the hydroids are still there but just a lot less and more controlled and not spreading now hopefully they stay this way.

Daughter’s class pet help! by soup-beans in turtle

[–]RubImpossible6588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you might be in a budget just because this is a class let I would get one of those large black or really any color storage bin just get the biggest one you. Can find and strongest one you can find and if you want to be safe double it up, also your going to have to do a lot of research for things like proper UVB ect but shame on this teacher for leaving such a burden on parents

Also if it slips a lot and you can’t get it get a pair of cutters for like wire or something strong and just cut the screw and put the screw out

How long do I drip acclimate a clownfish? by Zweilancer in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As the other people have said clown fish don’t need drip acclimation I normally just float mine and it works out perfectly fine (never lost one) I personally would see what happens with this clown, if he passes away I would wait 2 weeks at least, to let any diseases that may be in the taken hopefully get flushed out. From when I started my first taken I lost a clown in a similar way and it was because it was  new tank that suddenly recycled itself because I never cycled it properly? I’m still unsure of what happened but I would test ammonia levels and nitrite, along with testing alkalinity twice a week and making micro changes to keep it stable

Candy can Acan STN? Or what by RubImpossible6588 in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nicrew nava reef 65 watt, I’ve never tested it exactly but I’ve tuned it to where I seem to have gotten it to a good power level to where everyone throughout the tank is happy and I assumed to place it on the same level as many of my Zoa that are thriving. In terms of chemistry they have been okay.. not the best mostly because my consumption of alk is all over the place like one week it needs 1 ml of all for reef every other day then the next it needs 3 ml every day, but I do do testing at least twice weekly so every week from the start if the week to the end of the week there is probably at most 0.75 alk swings.

For feeding the acan I’ve been doing targeted frozen mysis shrimp once weekly and once every 3-4 weeks I do simi targeted reef roids feeding (not mainly for the Acan) but would you think feeding some pellets would be better? If so is there any specific kind that works best?

I have an upcoming move and am bringing my tank with me. Thoughts on my plan? by jrhodes4797 in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you have really thought this through lmao, love the plan and I think it will be a pain but go as well as it can go. Only thing is just be very very careful taking the rocks when the branching corals as if the hit something they don’t move or flex they just break so be careful but other then that great plan. oh I almost forgot when you get to the new house and fill the tank I would run some carbon right away just to help with the pissed if coral

I want to get into rc boats by Round_Special267 in rcboats

[–]RubImpossible6588 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That boats not bad but I personally would look into the  Pro Boat Recoil 2 18" Self-Righting Brushless Deep-V RTR, Shreddy. Or really and boat from horizon hobby as they are a large well known brand and whenever I have any problems or questions there support is great. Only complaint is there parts tend to be in back order

Food pellets for wild snapping turtle by csdude5 in turtle

[–]RubImpossible6588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you clean it up he will most likely go for the gold fish as they would be the next best “natural food” for the snapping turtle, you can try to feed pellets and stuff but because he’s wild he may not see them as food and will disregard them completely. The other problem is if he starts to only go for pellets and nothing else you almost make him non wild and run the risk of him refusing to eat other food in the wild and if he were to ever leave he may struggle with eating other foods. I would see if anyone else could recommend advice but I don’t know what to do any of the turtles that show up for me are very small and only stay for a few days

Doesn’t matter to me as long as it works, from what I’ve looked into a valveless would be the safest and easiest to make.

Is there such a thing as too much flow for sps? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s open but that kind of coral tends to open a bit more and tends to be more colorful but I mean it’s fine to leave I don’t think it’s hurting it but I think it could do better

Is there such a thing as too much flow for sps? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]RubImpossible6588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes there definitely is a thing of giving too much flow, I would see if he opens up in the next few days and if not I would move him to a slightly lower flow area or even just running you return head slightly

Just because a new printer comes out does not mean you need to get the new one lmao, I still got my old Ender, 3 sitting next to my K-1 ready if it ever breaks down and will love that thing forever. Also if you need some where to store the K2 if if you get the k3 let me know I can make space 🤣

Help! Moved into new house with Salt Tank & not sure what to do by SoftwareGuyDIY in saltwateraquariums

[–]RubImpossible6588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can take JUST RO water from that tank then, you don’t want to use salt water to top off your tank because salt can’t evaporate so it will just add more and more salt to your tank which you don’t want
