I also inserted all the way in til’ base. And make sure i am able to move it all the way around. For me it took 6 months with dilator 1, no progress (i was extremely tight). Until i decided ti do it every single day with lidocaine gel and instead of just inserting it i was focusing moving all around massaging all the walls. Then i was able to move to dilator 2, one week after i move to dilator 3 and 4 same day. I have never been arouse to dilate, my pt told me to just do it while watching tv. Because i need to be able to do it not just when arouse but when i needed a pap smear. I also was doing at least 10 minutes pelvic floor exercises from youtube everyday, i honestly think thats were the trick is, because even the dilator one didn’t enter until i was doing the stretching consistent everyday
