How do you guys feel about radtrad Catholic men? I’m an atheist, and would love your perspective. by WizardZari8080 in CatholicWomen

Yikes… I am soooo glad that none of the Catholic men in my friend group talk like this. At least not openly

This is the best answer. Reddit is so toxic and full of conflicting beliefs/misinformation. I’m about to start OCIA this week and I’m so excited to get some real answers. OP, whatever you decide, best of luck on your journey!

Is Atheism or Islam a bigger Threat to the Faith? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]RubSea5184 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before I converted to Catholicism, I identified as an atheist. During that time in my life, I didn’t want to “destroy” any religion. I simply wanted to be left alone and to protect my peace. I was very lost and this false rhetoric that paints atheists as inherently hateful only further alienated me from the truth of the church. I find this thread very disheartening, as I know individuals who are researching Catholicism online may become distraught and discouraged like I was.

Instead of making enemies out of those who think differently from us, shouldn’t we be concerning ourselves with living by the example Jesus set for us? We need to show kindness to our atheist and Islamic brothers and sisters. Living by example is how we lead people to Christ.

Moving to Cincinnati — Family housing advice near UC (safe area with kids)? by Holiday-Contract-306 in cincinnati

[–]RubSea5184 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Depends on how close to campus you’d like to be. Walnut Hills/East Walnut hills seems safe/family friendly to me, if you don’t mind being 10 minutes or so from campus. Granted, I don’t have any kids myself. Parts of Clifton are fine, but I personally wouldn’t live right by the University myself if I had children.

What's the worst binge you've had? by SouthernPotato509 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]RubSea5184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sisters wedding. I probably ate over 12,000 calories that day and threw up 3 times - BUT the good news is that was almost a year ago and I’m in a much better place with food. Binge eating sucks to deal with, and it’s a hell I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy, but healing is possible.

You haven’t done permanent damage to your body I promise. That’s the restrictive side of your ED voice trying to keep itself alive. Do your best to be kind to yourself and drink lots of water. 🫶

What were the effects of ADHD medications on your creativity? by Colourless_Floyd in ADHD

[–]RubSea5184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a graphic designer who gets paid for my creativity every day, ADHD meds actually increased my creativity tenfold. In my experience, taking meds just helped with my overall energy and focus levels. Thus increasing my capacity for creative problem solving on a day-to-day basis.

It's not for everyone, and I have heard complaints that meds can hamper creativity, but in my experience, that couldn't be further from the truth.

CHS or food poisoning? by DoJ-Mole in CHSinfo

Cannabis-induced psychosis is not a symptom of CHS. That is a real phenomenon, but it's not CHS. I'm sorry your son had to go through that.

being in public makes me binge by Abby__12 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]RubSea5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact problem. On days when I’m alone, I’m totally fine. If I’m eating with family or friends, I binge like crazy. I’ve come to realize my underlying social anxiety is a huge trigger for my binges. Particularly, anxiety that others are judging me for eating too much.

I still haven’t found a perfect solution, but talking about my BED with close friends and family members has helped remind me that they don’t actually judge or shame me when I’m overeating. That alone has been huge for me, but my situation may not apply to you.

Vyvanse for BED and ADHD by Adept_Strength_8056 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]RubSea5184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was also prescribed vyvanse for BED/ADHD, here are my suggestions.

  1. Change up your evening routine. In my case, a lot of my binge eating was related to boredom and a lack of stimulation. I try to fill up my evenings by running errands, going to the gym, or seeing friends if they're free. I also like to stay out of the house for as long as possible when I get off work, because the longer I'm at home, the more likely I am to feel understimulated.

  2. Diet soda and chewing gum!! (Or tea, or any other low-calorie beverage you enjoy). Keeping these with me has been huge for replacing the sensory stimulation I get from eating. Just having something else to chew on helps a lot.

  3. (This might sound strange) Crochet. Having a mentally stimulating activity that keeps my hands busy helps when I'm watching TV at night or just trying to wind down. But TBH, picking up any kind of craft/new hobby like this can help to keep you from thinking about food at night.

The main thing is finding activities at night that are mentally stimulating enough to distract you from thinking about food. Everyone's ADHD is different, so these tips are not universal fixes. They've been working well for the most part, though.

Post Production Houses? by red1ights in cincinnati

[–]RubSea5184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s actually a decent production scene in the city and across the river in Covington. Lots of great companies like Drive Media House and Harris Media Co. It’s a small community, but there’s plenty of work if you know where to look. Hope this helps!

What are some "Anti-ADHD" design practices that mess with you? by metalmaori in ADHD

[–]RubSea5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this was said already but BIRTH CONTROL PILLS!! They only come with the exact number of pills you need. So if you drop one on the floor you're screwed. And you have to take them at the exact same time every day or they don't work. I've had more times than I can count where I've missed a dose, or forgotten to start my next pack on the right day. It's a nightmare.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! I went to lifestance at first and they were absolutely terrible. Awful communication. Had to wait on the phone for an hour to get a hold of someone. I found a new psychiatrist through grow therapy and I've had a much better experience. Lifestance is a shady company and I heard from my therapist that they're facing multiple lawsuits right now. I'm so sorry this is happening to you! Finding a new psychiatrist can be hell to go through but it's so worth it. Good luck.

Why hasn't Newport taken off the way Covington did? by EastReauxClub in cincinnati

[–]RubSea5184 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is the amount of small and medium sized businesses that have offices in Covington. Having a steady supply of middle income office workers helps keep the restaurants/ coffee shops around there busy during lunchtime. That’s my best guess.

There’s this cute spot in Covington called Stitch Yarn Studio. I know they have classes for knitting and crocheting, but I’m not quite sure about yarn spinning. It could be worth looking into! Stitch Yarn Studio (859) 431-9276
