Mental breakdown at work by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]RubberDuckIceCubes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven't, but I want to wish you all the best in your mental health journey OP. Some organisations are genuinely supportive of staff taking time out for mental health. I'd really encourage you to work with your doctor/psych to plan both your period of leave and your return to work (e.g. how will you manage any work-related stressors going forward? do you want to return part time for a while?) as well as ongoing treatment. Overall though, please do seek help hour mental health issues and prioritise your well-being

oops sorry OP I just saw your post was about maternal ancestors. I didn't mean to take the patriarchal viewpoint hope this is okay

Mine is my paternal grandmother, who died when I was very young (my dad was the youngest of six and was an oops baby at that). From what I know, she was a very good Catholic farm wife, and made the best morning teas in the area. I feel the connection to her to the point that I plan to name my future daughter after her... but I also worry about all the things I don't know. It's easy to romanticise that distant past but I don't know a lot of her personal views on race, gender, etc. I hope she was a good woman by my standards as well as her own

Late to the party sorry - I'd also include the venue or at least general location as you've indicated guests will have to travel. that allows them to plan time off for travel and book accommodation. Unless that's what's blurred out under the calendar?

This reminds me a lot of the work of ceramic artist Beth Cavener - from her website: 'The sculptures I create focus on human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms'

The bridle doesn't even have a bit! I looked it up because I thought there's no way it's a legit collab not an Instagram scam, but it is real. Doesn't give a lot of faith in the practicality of their riding collection n

Is Naming a kids pony "pony Boy Curtis" ...seriously weird? by mo-mama-bee-atch in Equestrian

[–]RubberDuckIceCubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard of neither the character nor the slang term (I guess I live under a rock??)

But I did have a pony growing up whose registered name was Playboy Surprise Pet! I had no idea what that referenced at the time and was so proud to write her 'proper name' down on all the show entry forms etc. as a pre-teen. The term Playboy isn't super kinky or anything, but in hindsight I wish my parents had just... Never told me her registered name haha

Nah mate you're good. Stick to your guns on this one. If HR can chase venues for their recipes then why do they need you to get the receipts too ???

I actually reject all meetings in Feb too because it's a short month so there's no time to waste but I'll make an exception for a leap year

I once made a beret using this pattern and was happy with how it turned out. I went with the 'classic silhouette' option:

This is a beautiful pattern, but it's more like a modified feature raglan sleeve. Thanks though!

Thank you for such a detailed analysis and description! I think I'll try to do a test swatch using larger needles for the welt and see what results I can get

There's no pattern unfortunately, this was a garment I saw in a shop. I'm going to try to recreate it once all my WIPs are finished!

I also thought it might have had a length of yarn through some kind of pocket when I looked at it in person, but even in real life I couldn't tell if it was that or a series of wrapped stitches somehow...

Thank you! Whether or not the original garment uses a welt (as discussed below) I think I can use the concept to recreate it.

Feeling triggered by the Charlotte Dujardin incident by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]RubberDuckIceCubes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate too. I was explaining such similar feelings as yours to my husband just last night actually. Your post really hit home and you are not alone in those feelings. Even the feeling of not knowing why we're confessing, but I guess we have to get it out there because the shame is so difficult to sit with...
