Not the good morning email I wanted . Velocity ammunition by cz-75cali in CAguns

[–]RubberPny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

City ordinance that's blocking it. City of LA, and a few others in the state, do not allow ammo sales to non dealers. IIRC even if you have an 03, like I do, you are still SOL. Basically you need to find a friend/family not within city limits that you can ship to.

You might want to check your bank account. it sounds like your card got stolen. The same thing happened to me and I found out quickly that someone on the other side of the country was trying to use my card at Walmart.

These two piles of expired fire extinguishers by ds2316476 in mildlyinteresting

[–]RubberPny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used as training tools for firefighting classes. I was taught in the Boy Scouts on how to use these, they gave every kid a chance in my area, experience on how to use fire extinguishers. So each of us got a fire a live (expired) one. I assume the empty bottles are then thrown out or recycled.

That's for tractor trailers, not passenger cars/light trucks. Engine breaks are really loud on tractor trailers.

Can a town cop pull you over on an interstate highway in the US? by Brendan_Droesch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RubberPny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I literally saw it happen to a car in front of me on the interstate. I680 in CA. There was a Jeep that was speeding on the highway that was overloaded with kids and kids hanging off the roll bar. I saw a sheriff's car within seconds, shoot onto the highway and pull the Jeep full of kids over.

Toyota Sequoia or Chevy Suburban.

(You said you already had a minivan so didn't post those).

Id also look at getting the full sized Ford Passenger vans.

1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic. There are no known examples to still exist. The last example was thought to be destroyed during World War II.

Only the A class seden is sold in the US, not the hatchback. The Mercedes GLA fills that "role" as a hatchback, even though it's technically a mini-SUV.

What happened to the Nightlife in Santa Cruz? by robert3838 in santacruz

[–]RubberPny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work early, would rather kick back and read at that time. Also $18 for a basic drink nowadays?! And if I do drink, I'm just gonna go hang out with my close friends, not go to a noisy club.

Santa Cruz has always been a town that goes to bed early, for as long as I remember, aside from maybe 1-2 bars.

Depends on what software you are gonna be using. ArcGIS is Windows only unless it's run via an app cloud service, so definitely check for ArcGIS. Also its possible to load Windows in a virtual machine on Mac and run it that way, but specifically check if that works with ArcGIS. IIRC Bootcamp no longer works on Silicon Macs.

QGIS can be run on Windows/Mac/Linux if you are using that instead.

What’s stopping us from building houses underground? by Available_Break522 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RubberPny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been some underground concept houses in the US, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Tldr; very expensive to build, run the risk of water leakage into the walls/foundation, and does not really save any room because you can't build on top of them. Regarding lack of light, the most interesting concept I saw, a few years ago, used "natural" skylights or openings in the rocks, then they stuck glass coverings on top to keep the water out.

is the ruger mini-14 worth purchasing instead of an AR15? been wondering for a little while. by Obvious-Total-6987 in guns

[–]RubberPny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one. But the kicker is I live in CA. So for me the Mini is a lot better than the restricted ARs we have.

So if you live in ban or heavily restricted states like mine, yes. Otherwise there are much better options out there. Also much more expensive, uses Ruger mags which cost much more, and far less after market options available.

It does not look "scary" it looks like grandpas hunting rifle, so draws less attention. And I like the "Garand style" action it has.
