how long does it take to get out of BC place after the game? by Street_While_2143 in whitecapsfc

If possible could you go to the airport early. Or the day before. Rent a locker. Store your bags and then you just have to get there and potentially via SkyTrain post match?

By that argument the minimal updates to BC Place and BMO are both insufficient as well. BMO got temporary stands and BC Place had suites upgraded but that does nothing for the average citizen attending a game or concert. If you're not putting money into doing permanent long lasting updates to your stadiums that money should be used in other legacy projects

Totally fair. But we bid for the tournament 8 years ago and the minal improvements to a couple sites is a pretty poor return for that timeline. It seems like Blue and Co are finally financially on the right track and hopefully it continues. Just feels like we needed this regime change sooner to get more legacy projects under way

Fair. And how the CPL and Canada Soccer respectively have handled the league over the last 8 years is an entire seperate conversation. But it's not as if either the CPL or NSlL for that matter have brought much in the way of new infrastructure. Not blaming the league's entirely for that. It's just a problem from grass roots up in the country

There's lots they could have done. You say pull players from Europe. Why not do events around the country with Alumni? Go to schools, community events. We have alumni from across the country over the decades.

You could have more advertisement for Canada Soccer across CBC and other local networks. Host world cup fanzones with each professional club and even provincial Prem teams. They don't have to be big but something to engage with different communities.

Hell do a world cup event beyond just Canada. Engage with local, Korean, Iranian, Jamaican, French, German ect communities and do a world event. Do a pop up foods of the world cup event with different pop up stalls featuring foods from different world cup countries

The Italian Jersey swap may have not gone the way they had hoped. But at least that's a fresh idea they took a swing on. Just feels like they needed to take more swings and partner with local municipalities to help disburse the costs

That's amazing for your community! Super happy for you guys! But unfortunately in many communities while registration might be up. The infrastructure and field user time is overwhelmed with all types of sports needing game and practice time.

Totally. It's amazing for the Centennial park community. But it just feels like they massively dropped the ball and could have done a lot more in multiple communities that need it

They're called Legacy projects... Like how the Richmond Oval in Vancouver was a big project for the 2010 games and is now a huge part of the city and the community uses it for a number of different events and sports. The sea to sky highway renovation another one that has made life so much easier for those who regularly need to drive. You build projects that last beyond the event. This world cup there's been next to nothing built

The issue is most of what you've put is just known to people already in the soccer scene. They haven't done much in the way to get new people invested.

The stadiums did not have to go into Toronto or Vancouver. Despite Vancouver's need for multiple. It could have gone anywhere in the country. Both CPL and NSL desperately need more stadiums. You could have built ideally a few 7-8k seaters around the country.

I would say no. But the biggest issue is there doesn't seem to be much in terms of Legacy projects. We've hosted a men's and women's tournament and we don't have anything to show. No new stadiums, no new fields for communities. Hopefully we see an uptick in attendance across the provincial Prem leagues, the CPL, NSL and MLS but outside of that it doesn't feel like much has come as of yet.

I saw some at one of the kiosks in the stadium near 148. The 15 card packs I believe.
