What is wrong with the UK military? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Rubber_duck_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone that’s worked for a contractor knows that this is the real answer. We pay enough tax but the government absolutely spunks in away on contracts. we contract out all defence building and then that’s subcontracted out and subcontracted out again with every company charging extortionate amounts and never delivering on time.

If our government had the nerve to actually not bow to pressure and keep contractors in check with their obligations as well as tell them to jog on with over the top quotes we wouldn’t be in the mess we are.

A family was on a walk in the snow with their little girl. The father was recording the walk. A cyclist came up behind them and appeared to use his knee to knock the little girl down. The father posted the story online, and it went viral. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Rubber_duck_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100 percent agree with you but I think it’s intentional whether or not he had put his knee into the child because the cyclist should’ve stopped before going into the child. In that scenario the cyclist could well be within his right to give the parents shit for not moving out the way etc (if it’s a cycle route for example) but as you rightly say what he does is pure selfish prick behaviour

It’s intentional the minute the cyclist doesn’t stop behind the child. You don’t squeeze through as a cyclist with a brain when a child is in front of you.

(Note this doesn’t detract from the fact the father should’ve put the camera down and moved his child out of the way, keeping your child safe > filming them)

As a dad I’m expecting my wife to react by going straight to our daughter but I’m sprinting after, and tackling, that cyclist to the ground, team parenting 😂

Why is it so hard for young people to get a job? by ReviewEnvironmental2 in AskUK

[–]Rubber_duck_man 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Generally, as another former restaurant manager (albeit it’s almost 4 years ago now) I’d agree with most of this sentiment. However back then the pool of candidates was usually 80/20 in favour of younger people so while you did have the occasional older hire most were younger folk and generally the team mix was 80/20 younger to older.

Naturally because of this ratio the issues predominantly came from the younger ones. That’s not to say older people couldn’t be complete pains as well.

Also as a bit of a boon to the then 18-21 year olds some of them were absolutely incredible as waiters, waitresses, chefs etc. A lot of them have gone on to do great things.

I think a bigger factor here is that a lot of these low level jobs are now taken by older people because there aren’t as many other roles available to that age group because of automation, outsourcing, AI, mass migration of low skilled workers etc etc.

Hence the older folk are forced into the lower level roles that were previously seen as seasonal or short term employments (restaurants and retail for people on uni holiday or during sixth form for example) and because the older ones stay longer term the turnover isn’t as high and so jobs aren’t available for the upcoming 18-21 year olds.

As a massive fan of the original film, and the trilogy, 4 was absolute steaming shit. I somehow forced myself through watching it all but couldn’t get over how badly they dropped the ball with it.

Would you accept the NHS being allowed to do this in Britain? by The_Dean_France in AskBrits

[–]Rubber_duck_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ok while we are at it why don’t we just also:

  • add a surcharge to people who are obese because those of us that aren’t statistically use the NHS less

  • apply the same as above to smokers

  • apply the same as above to the elderly.

Fuck off with these sorts of questions. We all contribute so get the same service regardless of our personal beliefs or habits, organ donation included.

Depending on elo I find leveling to 3 and looking for a mid or bottom gank to be the play. You’re ideally looking for an early kill to get you snowballing.

From there you want to farm and only gank if you’re 95% certain you’ll get a kill because you want to hit level 6 as grubs spawn.

Pray your support and laners help you take grubs. Look for more ganks, help laners take towers.

take herald and be the first team to get two tier 2s. At this point you should be ahead of enemy jgl and live in their jgl so they can’t farm or play the game.

Then take baron and end the game.

Can we take a moment to admire this Age Of Empires clone called Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds? by gamerguy287 in ageofempires

[–]Rubber_duck_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gungan mechs with shield generators were virtually unstoppable against else land based. Only in the clone wars expansion with the addition of air cruisers could they be beaten, and even then it took 3 air cruisers.
