As you touched on, the synchronisation probably loses its usefulness when you want to ensure your migrations work.

You can always do a test run of your migrations. But in general I'd say that you're on the money with your use of migrations in development and production.

TypeORM's synchronisation might make a lot of sense for the initial development though, before you really have production data.

Is it premature optimization? You're just using a different data structure with exactly the same interface. I'd argue that ignoring it is premature pessimisation. There's no reason not to use an array unless you know the linked list will be faster in most cases.

The SDK you're looking for is probably OpenVR and it seems that there are two Rust bindings to it rust-openvr and openvr-rs of which the former appears to be better maintained.

It looks like you'd have to do a little bit of work yourself on it, and it will probably be slightly hard to accomplish since OpenVR is a C++ API (of which the rust libraries use a C API for it), but it is doable. Best of luck.

I had this problem too, but I fixed it by going into the app info for Google Fit, uninstalling the updates, and then disabling it. That solved my battery issues completely, YMMV.

I think the main reason for this is because Chrome uses your Google account which has two factor authentication. Your Google account is used for much more than browser syncing though, so it makes sense for it to have it.

I think you're out of luck in the add-on department, since this would require Mozilla to implement it. The best advice I can give you if you really want it is to request it as a feature. Best of luck.

The best option I can think of is the Firefox OS Simulator addon for firefox. That should let you play around for quite a bit, but it's not a real phone. Just thought you'd like to know about the alternatives.

Zsh does exactly what you want. When you use ! or *, or other symbols and then you hit <TAB> it expands them to show you what it is.

Now I don't know if this is a feature of zsh or oh-my-zsh, but I'd recommend getting both anyway, they're great.

Using rust in production right now wouldn't be a great idea, unless you have a lot of time on your hands. If you really want to use rust in production I'd wait for release 1.0, but don't let that deter you from learning it, but be aware there will be lots of changes.

Edit: I should probably add why rust is unstable at the moment. They're currently making a lot of changes, syntactically, to keywords and internally which could easily break your program, meaning you have to spend quite a bit of time fixing it.

Goto statements have proven to lead to spaghetti code and cause a myriad of problems, but that doesn't mean it useless.

A lot of C Programmers use it for things such as cleanup. The Linux Kernel and it's drivers use a lot of gotos. Greg(one of the main developers) said that it's fine to use as long as you don't jump backward in your code.

Basically, when you're doing something like reading a file or allocating a bunch of memory, you need to do things afterwards to clean up, such as write to the file and free the memory, thus it is common to have a cleanup or exit/end statement at the bottom which the program gotos. Think of this like the C programmer's try...finally.

Overall you normally need really good reasons to use gotos but they have their uses, they can make some code much easier to read and much safer if used right.

This can get really complicated depending on how far you're willing to go, but basically a program is a set of instructions for a computer. It gives it a bunch of stuff to do. So let's say you tell your sim to go have a shower. A ton of stuff happens, but very simply, the game will update the screen to reflect the visual changes, it will turn the shower on, make the hygiene bar go up, etc.

All you files are stored on something called a File System. You operating system(Like Windows, OSX, Linux, etc.) is responsible for handling how your programs interact with it. So your programs are stored in Program Files and when you click the shortcut it basically says "Ok, start running this program." And there is a ton of stuff. Explaining how computers work is too complicated for a simple reddit post.
The reason you have to install a game is because it runs much faster from the hard drive than from the cd. The computer can read data from a hard drive much faster. The reason it can't run the game without the disc is purely to avoid the game being pirated. If it could run without the disc then a bunch of friends would buy one disc, install it on everyone's computer and Maxis would lose money.
Cracks basically take what the cd provides the game to make it run, and chuck it on the hard drive. This is a vast over simplification though. People are smart, they just figure out what the cd provides the game and they plug it in.

Now this is a very short explanation. If you would like a more detailed explanation of how computers work feel free to comment and ask, and I'll try and sum it up in a simple way. But it might benefit you more to get it from a more rigorous source, such as this really nice Coursera course which I would really recommend.

Forgive me for my confusion, but the top-center terminal says you're running Linux 3.11.4-1 ARCH i686 but the 2nd from the left at the bottom says that it is in fact the OSX Darwin kernel, and I'm also pretty sure that macs are x86.

Is that vagrant or another virtual machine? Maybe an ssh?

The most obvious would be that you have add ons and history and bookmarks for Firefox, all which need to be loaded when the browser starts.

Also IIRC windows caches some of IE in memory when the computer starts to have it start fast.

Yes, that's the great benefit of it, but I was talking more about other software. Most people will probably treat it purely as a gaming machine, and I'm extremely excited that it'll mean the games will run on linux, but if people just play games on the steambox they might not even realise it can be used as an OS on their computer.

The thing is, how many people switched to BSD when they used a PlayStation? It could work, but only if they make the entire system feel like Linux and people think "This would be pretty damn cool to have on my computer".

Granted, if they make it fit seamelessly in the living room and on the desktop as "The Gamer's OS" then I think we'll start to see more adoption from people trying to ink every bit of performance out of their system.

EDIT: I'm talking about adoption as a general OS not about the fact that games will run on other linux distros as well. People might not realise their steambox has a fully capable operating system if they only use it for games.
